Utah recovers from sloppy first quarter hangover, win 49-21Utes get tune up before critical matchup against Washington a Utah had lost two straight going into their matchup with the Washington State cougars. And it certainly looked like they were suffering some ill effects in the first quarter as multiple Ute turnovers led the Cougars to a 7-0 lead. But after an irate Coach Baron lashed out at his team, the Utes exploded in the 2nd for 28 points, as a fired up Jon Hays threw two touchdown passes, rushed for another, and led a long drive that was capped off by RB Byron York. The Utes would not let off the gas, scoring another three touchdowns in the 3rd quarter to put an end to any hopes for the Cougars. But as Baron said after the game, "We have got to shore up our tackling if we want to have any shot against JFace's Huskies."
