    Week 10 Summaries

Purdue Wins the Purdue Cannon In 2OT!!

Purdue started slow and then exploded but they didnt like a dominate big 10 power house either.

    1st qtr.

Opening kickoff goes to Ill. Ill runs an option left from their 20 and it is picked off by the FS. Purdue comes out burns a 1min off the clock Brigandi punches it in 7-0. Again Ill gets the ball breaks a huge run down the right sideline only to be caught at the 4. and be foreced to kick a field goal. 7-3.

    2nd qtr
Ensuing Kickoff goes to Ralph Bolden - Ralph deposits it down the left side line for 6. 92 yard kick off. 14-3. Ill is forced to punt on its next series and Purdue again finds the endzone. at the half its 28-10.

    3rd quater
Purdue starts to implode. QB TerBush starts making some terrible throws. and is pulled after his 2nd INT. Purdue adds another TD from Bolden. 35-19 after Ill scores a FG and aTD with a failed 2pt conversion. QB troubles build up. and Ill has cut down the rushing attack by Purdue. True Freshman Johnson comes out and throws an INT on his first attempt trying to get a first down.

    4th qtr.
Here is where Purdue started pissing down their legs. The running game was non existant so Purdue tried to employ its short passing game to keep the game clock moving and keep the ball away from ILL. but the fighting illini would get 3 Ints from TerBush and Johnson. Purdue would get its 7th INT in the last 13 seconds trying to get the win in a 42-42 ball game.

    OT #1.
Purdue is on defense first and swallows up ILL. pushes them back to the 33yrd line where they settle for the FG. Purdue goes out knowing 6 wins it and they get down to the 1 in line. 4th and in Coach T2 said lets play OT one more time. so he elects to kick the field goal. 45-45

    OT #2
Purdue again drove down inside the 1 yard line and on 3rd and inchs used the Maryland I to power Bolden in the endzone and go up 52-45. Ill would get the ball inside the 10 yard line but Superman Kerrigan sacked the ILL QB and forced a 4th and 21. Ill had a man open at the 2 and he dropped the pass..

    PURDUE WINS - 52-45

    Nevada @ Hawaii (NDcolts)

This was a hard fought game by both teams but ultimately decided by a few big plays that opened this game up in early in the 3rd qtr.

    1st Qtr

Nevada is able to stop Hawaii's passing game to force a punt. Nev. offense drives down the field and kicks a FG. But wait their is a personal foul penalty on the play of roughing the kicker and Nevada is able to get a 1 yard TD run from SR RB T.Vaua. Hawaii answers back with a long drive capped by a FG.

    2nd Qtr

Nevada coordinates another long drive and Taua scores another TD run from 7 yards. The next drive Hawaii's QB receives a lot of pressure and forces a bad pass which was caught by Nevada's Fr OLB C.Palmer who jukes 2 defenders and hits the sideline for 75 yards for theTD. Hawaii answers back with a fury of passes which lead to a 2 yard TD run and took 4 mins off the clock. With 44 secs Nevada see's an opening in the defense. Nevada throws a deep 60 yard pass that is dropped on the 2 yard line. The next play Hawaii gets the INT to end the half.
    21-10 Nevada

    3rd Qtr
Nevada drives down the field again and JR QB C.Kaepernick finds WR C.Wellington from 3 yards out for the TD. Hawaii answers back with another efficient passing attack and scores from 9 yards out ending the 3rd qtr 28-17 Nevada

    4th
The opening of the 4th backup RB C.Randall busts a long 34 yard run breaking a tackle by the FS then followed his blockers for the score. The rest of the qtr was used expiring the game clock.
    Final 35-17 Nevada

GG NDcolts! If I didnt get those breaks it probably would've been a different outcome.

#23 CMU DOMINATED BY NORTHERN ILLINOIS 31-28

#23 CMU DOMINATED BY NORTHERN ILLINOIS 31-28

The game was not as close as it looks. The Chippewas couldnt keep up with Northern Illinois. The lineman could not handle the defensive front. The WRs couldnt handle the hits from the DB's dropping at least 15 passes. The HBs were tackled in the backfield because the Oline couldnt contain the defensive front. The QB couldnt get off a pass or find open receivers although the defense ran a 4 man front all game.

On defense Northern Illinois was consistently getting 5 yards a carry no matter how many CMU put in the box. Northern Illinoi's QB had all day to throw and found many wide open receivers. The only thing that kept CMU in the game was there ability to make the big play.

All in all CMU played terrible and Northern Illinois played like champs. Good luck to the in the MAC title game.

CMU will square up with Western Michigan next week. The fans are curious to see what happens.

GG Forever! I am just disappointed my team played soooooo bad!

LA Tech beats Idaho in a defensive battle 17-13

LA Tech jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter as Jenkins hooked up with Williams for both scores. The first TD was lucky to say the least it looked like a pick all the way and then the defender just let it go right through his hands and 71 yds later TD.

2nd Williams TD 30 yds and he just plowed the Defender over.

Idaho added a FG near the end of the half to make it 14-3. Idaho kept really shooting themselves in the foot with 5 turnovers including this one with less the 2 minutes left to seal the Win for The Bulldogs.

    GG DrunkenSoldier!

I like the idea of highlights. Idaho certainly did shoot themselves in the foot with the last fumbled option pitch. I probably should have kept throwing the ball on the drive, but I was looking to mix it up.

My secondary routinely lets INTs go thru their hands and they get run over too like in both the first hightlights. I should have that patched up net season as I have 7 freshman starting on D right now and they will all have a bit higher awareness. Should be some good battles in the WAC as we move fwd.

    GG !

    New Mexico State @ Nevada

This was a really sloppy game for Nevada on offense going 0-8 on third downs and throwing 2 ints. The offensive scores from Nevada mainly came from long passing plays of 50+ yards. Nevada was able to get a few drives for TDs in the 3rd qtr in keeping this game close. The defense of Nevada allowed nearly 400 yards passing but got 2 critical interceptions and stopped New Mexico on a 4th down conversion attempt giving Nevada the win.

    1st Qtr
Interception returned for a TD NMSU
    14-10 Nevada
    2nd Qtr
    23-14 NMSU
    3rd Qtr
    33-28 NMSU
    4th Qtr
Another INT was returned for a TD for NMSU
    48-55 Nevada

This was a crazy game. Nevada couldn't run the ball and barely could complete a pass. The few passes that Nevada completed were for long TDs.
The special teams was the difference maker in this game for Nevada getting a total of 3 kickoff returns for TDs.

Hawaii goes to Utah State and pulls out a win. Utah State was forced to punt on their first drive. It was a great punt that pinned Hawaii at the 3 yd line. First play was a toss left that was takin 97 yds for a td. It was a really good game by Hawaii as they had to much talent for Utah State. 35-17 Hawaii

GG jam you will definately be there real soon

Aggies 'Dominated' in Loss to Warriors; Hawaii defeats Utah State 35-17

Logan, UT- Dominated. That's how interim head coach Coach Jam described what took place at Romney Stadium on Saturday. Not many would argue with his analysis.

The Aggies were dominated in the trenches from the start, and were no match for the bigger and more physical offensive and defensive lines for Hawaii. Hawaii was able to drive down the field with relative ease, converting on 8 of 10 third down attempts. Hawaii also accumulated an astounding 459 yards of total offense, including 257 on the ground. The lack of talent on defense is really showing through later in the season, as Utah State has been outscored by its opponents by an average of 19.2 PPG.

The offense did not perform much better than the defense. Quarterback Deandre Borel finished the day 12-18 on passing attempts for 207 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also had 11 rushing attempts for only 29 yards. The gameplan of Hawaii simply baffled this inexperienced Utah State offense. Hawaii routinely dropped 9 men into coverage, and only rushed two. Because of this, all of the routes by the recievers were adequately covered and Borel had no where to throw the ball, leading to an interception and 3 dropped interceptions.

The running game was a bright spot, as Coach Jam promised it would be in his introductory press conference. Running Back Speight ran for 108 yards on 12 attempts, as Utah State fell behind early and had to start airing it out.

Despite this disappointing loss, the road does not get easier from here on out.

Utah State travels to Nevada to take on the #22 Wolfpack on Saturday.

    Aztecs Use Turnovers & Freshman
    to Hold Off Colorado State

Ernie Lawson forces a bad throw

San Diego State travels to Colorado State and escapes with a 31-26 victory. The Aztecs, 3-9 last year, assured themselves of a winning season with the win, improving to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in the Mountain West. They close out their Moutain West schedule next week when they host the lowly Wyoming Cowboys, who currently sit at 1-7 (1-4) with their only win coming way back on September 18th when they beat the winless UNLV Rebels 24-23.

The Aztecs used two early interceptions to jump out in front of the Rams. The first interception led to a 4-yard Davon Brown touchdown. Brown would be held in check most of the day, only rushing for 35 yards on 16 carries, but he was able to reach the endzone on the Aztecs' 1st possession. The stars on offense on the day were the Aztecs' dynamic freshman duo, Casey Wagner and Adam Henry. Wagner led SDSU in receiving hauling in 5 passes for 106 yards and a 35-yard touchdown. Giving him 527 yards on the season and 5 receiving touchdowns, which put him at 8th and 4th respectively in the Mountain West.

Casey Wagner hauls in 35-yard TD

Henry, a 4-star running back who agreed to move to slot receiver to get on the field his freshman year, caught 2 passes for 41 yards and a 9-yard touchdown. In Henry's short stint at receiver, he has already caught 4 touchdown passes.

    Adam Henry catches 9-yard TD

The Aztec defense was very opportunistic with Marcus Yarbrough returning a 2nd quarter interception 75 yards for a touchdown. Ernie Lawson burst through the line and hit Klay Kubiak as he released the ball, which fluttered about 10 yards in the air, before Yarbrough snatched it and returned it for the touchdown to make the score 14-2. From here, Colorado State would continue to get close, but San Diego State stayed just outside of the Rams' reach.
