    Home Heartbreak

La Tech loses a tight one on a missed FG at then end of regulation

The Bulldogs came into today's game the underdog, and started off the game looking like the better team. In his first 15 passes, QB Ross Jenkins was 15/15 and a TD pass. But on his very next two throws in the mid second quarter, Jenkins threw back to back interceptions. Both interceptions came inside the last 2 mins of the half, and the Fresno State team would capitalize with two touchdowns. This would put the FSU Bulldogs at a 24-14 advantage at the half.

The third quarter wasn't much better. Halfback Lennon Creer fumbled after a nice 12 yard run that put the LTU inside the 20 yard line. Of course, the defense withstood a decent drive by FSU and Tech got the ball back. Jenkins ended up throwing his third interception, this time a 32 yard pick six that put FSU up 31-14 to start the fourth. The fourth quarter belonged to Tech as they drove and scored two touchdowns to make it 31-28. Unfortunately the FG kicker ended up not showing this afternoon. He missed two FG's in the fourth quarter and Fresno State escaped with a victory.

    Rebels Fall Short in Provo

UNLV fell into a 21-0 hole in the first 3 minutes of the ball game, but managed to score 17 unanswered points, making the score 21-17 BYU going into the 4th quarter. After stopping BYU on a crucial 3rd down, UNLV would get the ball back with 2 minutes left to put on a final charge. 1st down saw the Rebels try to catch the BYU Cougars napping with a draw, no dice. On 2nd down, the defense brought pressure and rattled Omar Clayton who threw the ball away. 3rd down, BYU brought pressure and Clayton had a man left uncovered running a streak down the slot, but he didn't account for LB Shane Hunter who picked Clayton's rocket out of the air. With a little over a minute left, and 2 timeouts, UNLV had a chance, but needed to hold BYU for 3 downs, they did just that, but on 4th and 1, BYU went for it to put the nail in the coffin and HB Bryan Kariya broke a couple tackles and scampered to the house past the UNLV blitz.

How i won this game is beyond me the defense stepped up big time. I threw 5 picks in this game and pulled it out. Talk about pure luck. Bet i never throw 5 picks in this game and win again.

    Week 10

    Nevada 16
    Idaho 10

Nevada battled Idaho this week to a 16-10 road win that was much needed. Idaho proved to be much tougher than their record would indicate.

Idaho jumped out to an early lead when Nathan Enderle hit Preston Davis for a 67 yard scoring strike. Then, just minutes later, Trey Farquhar nailed a 38 yard field goal to give the Vandals a 10-0 lead. That is where Nevada took over for the remainder of the game. Colin Kaepernick hit Chris Wellington for a 16 yard touchdown through the air to bring the Wolfpack to within 3 after one quarter. Kaepernick scored on a 5 yard run on a broken play in the second to give Nevada a 14-10 halftime edge. A Nevada safety in the fourth wrapped up the scoring as Nevada would hang on to win 16-10.

Kaepernick was 5 for 14 for 87 yards and a touchdown and Vai Taua had 55 yards on 27 totes to lead Nevada. The Wolfpack improves to 6-3 (3-1) with the win and will take on New Mexico St next week.
