Revenge Is Sweet! UNC Crushes NC State 42-24 Chapel Hill, NC.....AP... The North Carolina Tar Heels have a good memory when it comes to rivarly games. They avenged their last season drubbing by the Wolfpack by smacking them in the face win a 42-24 rout. The game was never really close and not as close as the score indicated. UNC jumped out to a 14-0 lead on a TD pass from QB Williams and then on a 16 yd Williams run. NC State kicked a FG and on the ensuing kickoff, return man dynamo and starting halfback Giovanni Bernard took it 99 yards for a score to put UNC up 21-3. The Tar Heels once again held the Wolfpack to 3 points and on the next drive Williams hit all time UNC TD leading WR TJ Thorp on a 71 yard catch and run to put them up comfortably 28-6. State kicked yet another FG to make it 28-9. The Tar Heels started the second half just as they ended the first, with Williams hooking up with Sean Tapley on a 64 yd scoring strike to put up UNC 35-9. The Tar Heels never really looked back coasting the rest of the way. Coach Black was asked about the the revenge aspect of the contest, "Yeah well last year the Wolfpack players were talking a lot of smack after the game and conducted themselves like a bunch of classless fools, so maybe we had a little extra something for them today." Leaders: UNC Williams 5 for 6 218 and 4 TD's, 1 Rush TDBernard 20 for 153 yards, 5 KR for 251 yds and a TDThorp 2 for 89 and 2 TD's NC State Brosius 30 for48 383 and 2 TD'sCreecy 18 for 102Hughes 9 for 120 and 1 TD
If Bernard does not win Returner of the Year, I will be shocked. Hell, I don't know what his rushing stats look like, but he should be in the Heisman hunt if they are any good.
Florida outlasts Georgia in Jacksonville Herculean Effort from Mack Brown rushing for over 260 yards and 2 scores He had great blocking on TD runs of 85 and 64 yards 2 picks for Louchez Purifoy gives him 17 on his career and thats a Gator Record
Razorbacks come back from 20-0 to win 35-23. Defense forced 3 turnovers, two more ints for CB Redmon QB Brandon Allen struggled in the first half, but he found a grove in the second half. Arkansas had 3 recruits at the game...
Nah, I usually cant run for shit. I get stuffed and have to rely on the pass mostly
Nittany Lions Edge Nebraska in ThrillerThe Beginning Looked Bleak for PSU, but they Bounced Back and Earned a Victory State College, PA - Penn State looked worried very early in the beginning as the Huskers jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead. HB Abdullah was at one point 4 rushes for 86 YDs and the defense looked completely overmatched. Abdullah notched the first TD of the game, however it wasn't on the ground and he did not receive a catch. Instead, the speedy HB threw a perfect pass out of the wildcat to his TE Hines from 9 yards out to give Nebraska the 7-0 lead. FB Greg Coley would punch it in from 3 yards out less than 3 minutes later. PSU would not go out of the first quarter without a fight, as Freshman QB Nick Kirby found WR Andrew Thompson on an 11 yard completion for 6. The 2nd quarter would see back and forth scores and Nebraska continued to hang on to the lead going into the half up 31-21. The 2nd half saw an offensive struggle for Nebraska, as PSU figured it out defensively. PSU would go into the 4th down 34-21, but figured it out in the 4th. However, QB Kirby did suffer an injury that sidelined him for the rest of the game, leaving it all on the shoulders of Paul Jones. Jones found Thompson on a 9 yard TD reception to pull PSU within 6. Later in the 4th, HB Bill Belton began to show his ability and punched it in from 3 yards out, giving PSU a 35-34 lead. Nebraska would receive the ball with plenty of time on the clock and moved it easily into PSU territory. The defense stood tall and forced a Nebraska FG attempt from the 31. Unfortunately for the Huskers, the kick sailed wide right, securing PSU's 35-34 victory in a huge rivalry game.
I wish the CPU would miss FGs against me. Must be the B1G has some horrible kickers.
Streak Still Alive
Clemson remains undefeated despite close call against Maryland.
MARYLAND- In an highly anticipated match up between Top 5 BCS schools, ACC opponents, and just a pure old fashioned rivalry, this game had a lot riding on it. Although there are a few more games left in the season, the winner of this one would align themselves well for a possible ACC Title and the chance at a National Title. The game was to be played in a driving snow storm, which being from the South, many would have thought Clemson would struggle the most to begin with. But the opposite of this took place, as Clemson's freshman QB was calm and collect during the first quarter and a half of the ball game. He was finding and hitting receivers with little opposition from the opposing team. Clemson would find themselves up 17-0 early in the second. This would change however, as Clemson's QB would try to get to greedy and force the issue and Maryland would make them pay. Maryland's QB would catch fire; thowing for 2 late td passes off of Clemson trunovers and would cut the deficit to just 7 at halftime. 24-17 Clemson
Having combined for 31 first half points, both defensive coordinators would earn their pay as the defenses of both teams came out hitting hard. Being that it was cold and the visibility was nearly non existent, the offenses had a hard time getting into scoring range. Both teams would trade a couple of late scores in the ball game, but a long 3rd down run late in the fourth would seal the victory for the visiting team. Both teams played great in the game and it was unfortunate that someone had to lose. This is what the ACC is all about!
