Vikings Win Defensive Battle; Remain Undefeated But Lose QB

Minneapolis, MN - The Vikings came into their week 10 divisional match-up with Chicago riding high at 8-0, and while they'd walk away from the game with another tally in the W column, their divisional championship hopes might have still taken a hit.

The Bears start off the game with a time-consuming, 9-minute drive, capped off by a short TD run by HB Bryce Brown. Prone to slow starts this year, the Vikings would begin the game offensively with a 3 & out. But, as usual, the Vikings D would pick their offense up and MLB Karlos Dansby would pick off Cuter deep in Minnesota territory. A few plays later, disaster for Minnesota - star QB Teddy B would take off (something he's rarely done in his career) and was hit awkwardly after a 5-yard pickup. Early diagnosis didn't look good, and it was later confirmed a shoulder tear - he'll miss 4-5 weeks.

Insert 2nd-yr QB Coty Arnold, who would get the Vikings into FG range to pull within 3-7 late in the 2nd. Another Cutler INT would lead to a another late 1st half FG. Score at half - 7-6 in favor of Chicago.

The 2nd half was an offensive struggle, for both teams. The Vikings would continue to force Cutler into mistakes (would finish the day with 4 INT's; 2 by CB Captain Munnerlyn), while the Bears keyed in on stopping AP and the Minnesota running game with QB Coty Arnold under center for the first time in his NFL career. The Bears would tack on a FG in the 3rd. In the middle of the 4th, the Vikings would finally take the lead - a nice drive capped off by a short TD run by Adrian Peterson (his 15th of the season). The Vikings D would clamp down and hold onto the 13-10 lead until the clock hit 00:00.

While Arnold played well (14 of 18, 103 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT), the Vikings picked up rookie FA QB Lucky Pierce shortly after the game and early indications are he might start week 11 versus the Cowboys.
