Ever since they appeared as the team most likely to be picking #1 in the upcoming draft, the Cowboys realized they had to do something to salvage this poor excuse of a season. Things are so bad around here that rumor has it RB D. Murray will be taking his skills elsewhere next year.
So, what do you do as a coach? You go back to the basics and try to re-establish your fundamentals. Running the ball, executing your assignments, playing things differently on defense. Over the last 2 games the message seems to have been getting thru to the players. And it was pretty evident in week 12 vs the Steelers. Despite WR A. Brown torching the defense for 173yds, he never scored and really didn't do much when it mattered most. Even though Big Ben threw for over 300yds and 2 TDs, he was also intercepted twice, ending drives in Dallas territory.
On offense, Murray was content pounding inside or taking it around the edge. Romo was happy spreading things around and taking what the defense gave, even if it was a 4yd pass. End result was 93yds and 3 TDs on the ground and over 300yds thru the air with a 63% completion rate and a rating above 90 for the 2nd week in a row.
What will week 13 bring? Stay tuned...
