Jaguars Beat Chiefs 24-13 January 17, 2010 By: Harry Stone, Jacksonville Post-Intelligencer Jacksonville, FL- The Jacksonville Jaguars opened up a 21-0 lead in the first half and cruise to victory against the AFC West leading Kansas City Chiefs. The Jaguars Maruice Jones-Drew would be held in check most of the game, but would score the game’s first touchdown on a one yard run to cap off Jacksonville’s first possession. After a defensive stop, the offense would strike quickly on the first play of the drive as Matthew Stafford would connect with rookie receiver Derrick Kimble on a 65 yard touchdown pass to make it 14-0. Another Jones-Drew touchdown run in the second quarter would put the Jaguars up comfortably at halftime 21-0. The Green Machine defense would hold the Chiefs to just a couple of long Ryan Succop field goals in the second half, until the final minute when Kansas City would finally get a touchdown on a long pass from Sam Bradford to Bernard Berrian. However it was too little too late as Jacksonville would claim the 24-13 victory. The win coupled with the Patriots loss means Jackonville now is in sole possession of the #1 overall seed into the playoffs. Jacksonville has a big test next week as the red hot Cincinatti Bengals bring their high flying offense to town in another matchup of divisional leaders.
