    TCU Survives Furious Cowboy Comeback

After last weeks travesty, QB Jack King was given one last chance to save his starting job. He failed, miserably. 3 of 16 with 3 INTs last week, 8 of 18 with 1 more INT this week, and a number of missed open receivers effectively ended King's career with TCU.

Despite the misadventures of Jack King, the Frogs actually jumped out to a 17-7 first half lead thanks to some big plays from the defense, along with a pair of Walter Brooks TD runs and a 54 yard FG from Eric Turner. It wasn't going to be easy in the 2nd half though, as Brooks was lost for the remainder of the game with a concussion. Freshman QB Shaun Gilmore stepped in after halftime, and promptly led a TD drive with a big 3rd down completion, and then catching the OK State defense off guard with a beautifully executed option play that was taken 41 yards by 3rd string RB Claude Patrick. 2 minutes later and Gilmore would hit a streaking Greg Richard with a pinpoint accurate 47 yard TD pass to open the game up 31-7.

And then the defense fell asleep. OK State would score 1 TD, and convert the 2 point conversion. OK State would score a 2nd TD. And a 2nd 2 point coversion. OK State would score a 3rd TD, cutting the lead to 31-29. But a wide open Cowboy TE would drop the game tying 2 point conversion, allowing TCU to escape with a much needed W.

    Jack King; 8 of 18, 110 yards, 1 INT
    Shaun Gilmore; 3 of 6, 71 yards, 1 TD
Walter Brooks; 13 carries, 67 yards, 2 TDs
Claude Patrick; 10 carries, 88 yards, 1 TD
Greg Richard; 2 catches, 59 yards, 1 TD
