Week 12 Summaries
New week.. Good Luck 3 Weeks left.
Crowd Boo's, Student Section Leaves.... Bobcats Comeback!!!
Ohio found themselves in a hole early, falling behind NIU 23-0. Poor effort and un-motivated play is what sparked most of the Bobcat crowd to begin booing the Team. Thrash was throw towards the field and roughly half the fans left to go home before halftime. Well..... to bad for them, they missed a great comeback by the Bobcats.
NIU scored 23 un-answered points to begin the game, but with 2 minutes left in the 2nd Quarter, the Cats came roaring back. They burst down the field for a quick score off a QB sneak from Jones. NIU had under a minute on the clock unitl half, and they attempted to pad their lead, but S.Ballard picked off the NIU QB for another quick 6, and just like that, the Bobcats were back in it. 23-14 Half NIU
In the second half, the Bobcats kept the momentum by tallying up 4 more TD's. They scored 43 un-answered points. It was not until under 1 minute left in the 4th Qtr that NIU scored again. The bobcats are now bowl eligible @ (7-4) and will play their last game against (5-5) Temple.
Player of the Game:
RB Garrett 7car 90Yds 1TD, 3rec 27Yds (Was taken out in 4th Qtr due to injury... nothing serious)
After last weeks close loss to Idaho the new coach for Boise State said it was time to go back to basics and started from scratch in practice. In the game this week against Utah State it showed early in the game that they were still struggling to grasps the concept a bit letting Utah St. get up 14-7 at the half. But then BSU's offense and defense started clicking. They outscored Utah St. 17-3 in the second half to cruise to a 31-17 victory and a 6-4 record. Kellen Moore looked fairly impressive with over 280 yards passing and 3 TD's.
E. Mich 24
Buffalo started off on a roll scoring on their first two drives jumping to a 10-0 lead. Then It collapsed on them. At the half it was 10-10. End of the 3rd 17-10. Start of the 4th 24-10. buffalo managed to hold E. Michigan to a punt, drove quick and scored on a very UGLY looking option lol making it 24-17 with like :50 to go.
Kicked the onside, and EMU came up with the ball.
Very pourous run D in this game for Buffalo.
Emu was the man after being down 10-0 early. I dunno what he changed on D, but all of a sudden it was 3 and out, int, 3 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out....Jorgensen only threw 1 pick today. It was a horrible idea, but i ran a PA pass after a KR, and banked on Roosevelt smoking EMUs CB....he didnt and the safety came over the top to make the pick...
Also of note, EMUs DE, broke the Eastern Michigan school record for sacks (dropping Jorgensen like 4 times lol.)
We Will be Advancing tomorrow evening..
LTech 35 Fresno State 28
Fresno State came out and dominated most of the first half going up 14-0 with 1:34 left in the 2nd quarter. Jenkins hit Tuminello on a nice 34 yard TD pass with 18 seconds left in the half to make it 14-7 Fresno State.
Opening the 3rd with the ball LTech went 3 and out. The drive that followed is the drive that I believe saved the WAC for LTech. Fresno State is driving down the field. They complete a pass on the sideline to the TE, he fumbles it and LTech's Harris picks it up and returns it for a TD. This ties the game at 14.
The tie, however, only lasts 18 seconds as LTech blows a coverage and Colburn hits West on an 85 yard TD pass. In the 4th Jenkins leads the LTech team down the field for 3 scores. The first one was to tie the game at 21. The second one took the lead 28-21. After Fresno State scored with 19 seconds left, the LTech coaching staff made an uncharacteristic aggressive call to try to win the game. After the kickoff return was stopped at the LTech 25 yard line, LTech throws a 15 yard completion and calls timeout. Only 4 seconds left now, LTech calls the hail mary. Jenkins throws it to Stuart who is somehow behind the Fresno State defense. He catches it at about the 20 and outruns the Fresno State defense for the game winning TD.
Jenkins was the star of the game going 22-28 with 2 TDs and 412 yards passing. The running game misses Porter terribly. They were held to only 22 yards, with 2 rushing tds. In the 2 games without Porter LTech has averaged only 19 yards rushing.
Next week is a bye. LTech then plays SJSU to close out the regular season. If LTech wins, the WAC is theirs.
nevada beats NMSU.. 36-13. didnt have to pull all the stats. NV dominated the game. mostly through the air. NV moves to 9-2.
