    Week 13 Game Summaries

WOLFPACK WIN!!! WOLFPACK WIN!!! It was probably one of the biggest upsets of The Old Ball coaches young career. Here is what he had to say, "This game was our National Championship. We came out with a game plan and never strayed away from it. With all due respect to Boise St, this was a game we needed to put Nevada in the direction the program wanted to go. This was our signature WIN!!!"
Although the Wolfpack were able to dominate their opponent, it didn't look that way in the beginning. Boise St. came out determined to get the running game going, and that they did. The Broncos offensive unit was stellar with 32 pancake blockes to only a single sack the entire game. Running back J. Avery lead the Bronco charge with 177 yds on just 18 carries and three scores. D. Harper also added 77yds on 3 carries and a score. Boise St. jumped out on Nevada 17-7 at the end of the first qtr. "I said to myself, here we go again", a comment made by the coach on the play of his defense.
Nevada would storm back though; scoring 14 unanswered points in the second qtr. to take a 21-14 lead into intermission.
Nevada's L. Lippincott was the player of the game, but it was QB C. Kaepernick who stole the show. His timely completion after completion was the difference in the game. He converted several key third downs that keep many drives alive. Although he had no TD passes he still was able to complete 21 of 27 passes for 307 yds. "He managed the game like the true leader is his. He put this team on his back and carried them to victory.
As noted before,SR., L. Lippincott, had another solid game. He carried the ball 31 times for 144 yds and three scores.

This was a total team victory. Everyone played their part in the win. The Wolfpack defense gave up 246 yds on the ground, but managed to shut down highly tauted QB Kellen Moore, who was a measly 10 of 23 for 69yds and 1 int. "Hats off to our defense. Anytime you can frustrate a player of his caliber, you've done a great thing".

With the exception of a long Td run by Avery in the third qtr, the Broncos never really managed to get it going in the second half. Nevada outscored its opponent 27-13 in the second half to cruise to a comfortable win. Nevada ends its regular season with a 7-5,(6-2) record on the season and a possible bowl upgrade game due to this monumental win; currently scheduled to play Miami in the Humanitarian Bowl. Although we were able to get the win, the WAC Championship is just out reach for the Wolfpack, who lost to potential conference Champion LA Tech earlier this season.

Final Score- Nevada 48 - Boise St 30

The Arkansas State Red Wolves (6-5) brought the North Texas Mean Green (5-5) into their house for a much anticipated rivalry game and came away with a win, beating the Mean Green 56-28. Defense played a big key for the Red Wolves as they forced three turnovers which resulted in 2 TD's.

With 5 wins and only two more games on the docket, the Wolves needed to win tonight to be bowl bound. Although they are now eligible, they weill still need to come away with a win against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (6-5) in the final conference and season game.

    KEY PLAYERS OF THE GAME

UP NEXT FOR THE RED WOLVES
The Red Wolves will travel to Bowling Green, KY to face the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky. Both teams will have a 6-5 record.

Western Kentucky is building steam off beating conference leader Florida Atlantic. Florida Atlantic's loss puts Florida International as the sole front-runner of the Sun Belt conference.

Western Kentucky must win this game to finish in the top 3 of the Sun Belt Conference. Arkansas State must win this game to be above .500 and be considered for a bowl.

    Memphis 52 Tulsa 20

Memphis solidifies its spot in the C-USA championship with a rout of Tulsa. The first half was pretty even as Memphis took a 17-13 lead going into the break. The third quarter was a different story, as the Tigers scored 28 points and it was all down hill from there. Memphis finishes the season at 9-3 and 7-1 in the conference.
