Week 13 - Texans (37) vs. Jets (7) The Rookie Shines BUT the defense loses captain Jawan Williams shows why he was a 1st round pick with 2 interceptions and a Forced Fumble, but Demeco Ryans is out for season The stat line from this game heavily favors the Texans on both sides of the ball. The Jets showed up to play, but the Texans are in a wild card battle and were determined not to drop a late season game at home. The Texans rushed for an astonding 222 yards to the Jets 15. The Jets would only manage 4 first downs the entire game and their offense barely saw the field as the Texans would hold the ball for an amazing 25 1/5 minutes. In the end the -7 turnover ratio killed the Jets and they couldn't get on the field long enough to mount a comeback. The game would start with a nice drive by the Texans but would end with a 25 yard field goal by Kris Brown. After a turnover the Texans would score off a nice playaction to Owen Daniels from 8 yards out. End of First Quarter 10-0 Texans The second quarter would see a flurry of scores and turnovers. Vonte Leach punched it in from 1 yard out just 2 seconds into the 2nd quarter. A few minutes later Kris Brown would connect again from 23 yards out. Then Andre Johnson would find the endzone on a beautiful screen pass from 13 yards out. But the Jets would answer with a L. James 12 yard run with 2 minutes left in the half. The Texans would feel the pressure after that and get down field to kick a 45 yarder as time expired. Halftime score 30-7 Texans The rest of the game would just find the Texans draining the clock with running plays by Slaton, Middlebrook and Leach. The Jets would try to get some momentum but everytime they would get something going a turnover would loom. Middlebrook would punch it in from 4 yards out with 1 minute left in the 3rd. The 4th quarter saw the Texans with numerous opportunities to punch it in but they would elect to drain the clock and give the ball back to the Jets inside the 5. Final score 37-7 The hero of this game was rookie JAWAN WILLIAMS. His 2 interceptions, and forced fumble led the way for the Texans. Not to be outdone, running back Steve Slaton was one yard short of his first 200 yard rushing game.
