Week 13 UCF 41 @ Memphis 38 UCF was pretty much a given to win their match up with Memphis. That would not be the case as a “down but not out†Memphis team put up quite a comeback. The first half was an even duel as UCF & Memphis would exchange the lead several times. The knights went into the second half only up by 4. The Knights would own the second quarter, going ahead 31-17. They would add another score with :06 into the forth, now up 38-17. UCF thinking they had this one firmly in their grasp, subbed in their 2nd string on both sides. Memphis seemed to take it as a slap in the face and went on tear scoring 2 TD’s to the Knights 1 FG. The final play was a Cannon Smith 51 yard strike to Cam Baker with time expiring, only to fall short, 41 – 38. UCF is elated that they will be representing the East division in the Championship game. Hopefully they will get a rematch with their only loss of the season, Houston. This time it should go differently as there will be no air raid sirens to get into the heads of the Knight players. With a big win it could vault UCF into a big time bowl and help with recruiting.
