Week 14 One Step Closer Broncos Win Streak at 4 After Impressive 20-Point Road Victory The Broncos dominated on the ground, led by Correll Buckhalter's 160 rushing yards. Phoenix, AZ - As the AFC playoff race continues to change on a weekly basis, one thing remains the same. The Denver Broncos aren't going anywhere. Correll Buckhalter rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown and Matt Prater added four 40+ yard field goals as the Broncos cruised to their fourth straight win, 33-13 over Arizona. The win will keep them in a tie for the final AFC wild card spot and with the Chargers win over Kansas City, Denver finds itself just one game behind the Chiefs for the AFC West lead. Arizona got the ball first and was forced to punt following three incomplete passes. Buckhalter started the scoring shortly thereafter, bouncing an off-tackle run outside for a 44-yard touchdown. Michael Ray-Garvin would fumble the ensuing kickoff, leading to a Kyle Orton to Demaryius Thomas 17-yard hookup. Another Cardinal fumble set up Prater's first field goal of the day, as he capped the first quarter scoring by splitting the uprights from 45 yards out. A quiet second quarter saw each team exchange punts. Arizona looked to be getting on the board towards the end of the half, but their bid was stymied when grizzled veteran Brian Dawkins intercepted John Skelton in the end zone. Kyle Orton led a quick 2-minute drive into enemy territory and Prater sent the Broncos into halftime with a 20-0 lead, connecting from 52-yards out as time expired in the second quarter. The second half opened with Denver flexing their muscles. They went on a 9-play, 78-yard drive, with Orton handing the ball off on all nine snaps. Buckhalter and backup tailback Lendale White did the bulk of the work, with third string back Justin Fargas getting the glory. Fargas went into the end zone off tackle left for a 5-yard score, extending the lead to 27-0. Skelton and the Cardinals responded by getting on the board for the first time all day. An impressive drive was capped with a 17-yard strike from the Cardinals young QB to fullback Carey Davis. Prater's third field goal of the day opened the scoring in the fourth quarter, as he booted a 46-yard kick through the uprights. Skelton struck back quickly, hitting Steve Breaston on a streak route for an 88-yard score. A failed two-point conversion kept the lead at 3 scores, with the road team leading 30-13. Prater would add another long field goal (49 yards) and the Denver defense would do the rest, keeping the Cards off the scoreboard the rest of the way. The 33 points for Denver marked the fourth time in as many games that they have reached the 30 point mark. Orton was efficient in the victory, completing 12-of-14 passes for 116 yards, with a touchdown and interception. This game was won on the ground however, with the Broncos tallying 220 total rushing yards on 36 carries. Buckhalter picked up 160 of those yards, with Lendale White chipping in to the tune of 47 yards on 14 rush attempts. Skelton finished the day with respectable numbers, going 18-for-36 for 270 yards and 2 TDs. Denver's quest for an AFC playoff berth continues in week 15, when they stay on the road and take on the Oakland Raiders at the Coliseum. A win would clinch at least a .500 season for the Broncos, although at this point, they have their sights set much higher.
