    Week 14 Saints (21) @ Falcons (31)

    Falcons Soar Past Saints

In a truly must win game for both the Falcons (9-4) and the Saints (7-6), the Falcons were able come out on top due in part to a phenomenal ground attack lead by Michael Turner. The last time these two teams met the game came down to the final second as the Saints failed to get into the end zone from the one yard line.
This game was a hard fought battle throughout but the Falcons could breathe a bit easier in the end as they had a ten point cushion finishing the game 31-21.

New Orleans started with the ball and came out firing as they drove down the field on several nice pass plays and some nice runs by Brian Westbrook capping the drive with a 1 yard TD run by D. Moore. The Falcons looked out of sync on their first drive as they would eventually punt. Both teams seemed to lack rhythm for the rest of the quarter as they exchanged punts. Jerious Norwood would fumble the ball on the Falcons 35 setting up the Saints with excellent field position which they turned into a 22 yard Brees to Edwards TD. Brian Westbrook was injured on this drive and left the game with a partial groin tear forcing the Saints to change their game plan. The Falcons got back to basics on their next drive as Michael Turner began to pound the ball and O. Mughelli would eventually score on a 1 yard TD making 14-7. Things seemed to be turning around for the Falcons as P. Jerry would intercept Brees only to see Matt Ryan be picked off on the very next play. The Saints would eventually score on another Brees passing TD making it 21-7 with 1:22 left in the half. The Falcons came out firing and scored on a Turner TD run to end the half. The second half was all Falcons as Brees was continually harassed while Turner and Co. ground it out on the ground as the Falcons reeled off 24 unanswered points to finish the game ahead 31-21.
