Vikings Running back Adrian Peterson rushed for 132 yards with a TD on 25 carries on a tough Giants defense.
The Minnesota Vikings (6-7, 1-3) got a much needed win over a good New York Giants team. Receiver and return specialist Percy Harvin set the tone for the game as he returned the opening kick 100 yards for a TD. The Vikings then held the Giants to a long Jason Hansen FG and answered back again with a methodical drive led by Adrian Peterson, capped off by a 14 yard TD pass to FB Noel Tahi.
The Vikings then had some troubles mustering up offense in the second quarter. The Giant found Larry Fitzgerald multiple times for good gains and then Manning connected with Fitz once again for a 28 yard corner route, catching the Vikings in cover 2.
At halftime the score was slightly in the Vikings favor 16-13. Re-evaluating the Viking gameplan, the Viking defense stepped it up and held the Giants to only 3 points in the second half while controlling the clock with AP in the backfield and mixing it quick passes from Favre. The Giants had the game in reach but Ahmad Bradshaw fumbled in the redzone, turning it over to the Vikings who then marched down the field and scored on a 14 yard slant to Favre favorite red zone target Visanthe Shiancoe.
AP finished off a hard day of work with a 5 yard run with 1:56 remaining to almost seal the game. The Vikings defense shut down the Giants and claimed the win. GG Dave and good luck the rest of the season!
With a 6 and 7 record, the Vikings have 3 more games that they MUST win. These won't be easy as they will meet up with NFC North leader SRC and the Bears, OMFL favorite Vishal and the Eagles, and tenacious D Win and the Lions.
