AP Help Lifts The Streak To 2Vikings beat Bengals 26-16. The Vikings came off a huge win against the Eagles as they snapped their 6 game losing streak. Mostly due to Adrian Peterson, he did it again. This time 115 hard fought yards with 2 touchdowns. The Vikings got out to a 24-3 lead but in the 4th quarter the Bengals would come roaring back. It was too late though. Trailing by 8 points and their back against the wall. Sitting at about the 8 yard line, the Bengals would get sacked for a safety which ended the comeback.
A Change of Scenery
The New York Jets have made a drastic change in their lineup; particularly at the QB position and boy has it paid dividends. The unlikely of hero's, QB Greg McElroy has made the most of his opportunity the last two weeks. He has thrown for nearly 500yds and 5 td's in the two games. Coach Forever, "He just gets out there and makes plays. We knew he had the competitive edge and wanted to give him a shot." Former starter, Tim Tebow, in his third season with the Jets, is in his final year of a five year contract that started with The Broncos. Though statistically this is Tebows best year, the team still seemed rather discontent with his ability to gel with the players. "Its nothing he is doing wrong per say, we just think its time to go in another direction." Comments from general manager Mike Tannenbaum in an interview earlier this week.
The New York Jets defense gave their offense plenty of opportunities to score as they forced Patriot QB, Matt Ryan to throw 5 ints on the day. After taking a commanding 21-0 lead, Matt Ryan would get into a little groove as he would hit his WR for and 80 yd bomb to cut the lead to 14. On the next possesion, however, McElroy would hit his guy on a similar play to push the lead back to 21. The Patriots would utilize the 2 minute drill to perfection and get a score right before the half to trail 28-14. On the ensuing Jet possession, McElroy would make his only mistake of the game, as he would throw a pick six and the once comfortable lead was reduced to just 7 early in the third quarter. But thats as close as the Patriots would get as the defense and some timely running plays help the Jets milk the clock the rest of the way.
Final Score: 35-21 Jets
Chiefs Pull Off the Upset It was a game where a couple of turnovers help the Chiefs pull out this win. The scoring started with a 28 yard run by Charles to put the Chiefs out to early seven-point lead. The next score was by Charles again this time from 19 yards to make the score 14-0. Succop would add a field goal from 49 yards. This would make the score at the end of the first quarter 17-0. The Raiders would find their first points of the game with a 29 yard pass from Jones to Cooley. Succop would add a field goal to make the score 20-7 at halftime. In the third quarter Janikowski would make a 51 yard field goal. Later on in the third Culter would throw a pick for a TD to make the score 20-17 KC still in the lead. The Cheifs would respond with a pass from Cutler to Pope of 69 yards to put the Chiefs back out to a 10 point lead. The Raiders would try to cut the lead in the fourth quarter with a Darren McFadden 8 yard touchdown run. The Chiefs would manage to get two more field goals to extend their lead to 9 points which would prove very important because with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter Jones would find Moore in the end zone to make it only a 2 point game. KC would recover the onside kick and kill the clock.
