Aggies Lock up Scholars Division
A hard fought game came down to the turnover battle in this one. After NMSU fumbled in the red zone on their first drive, the Spartans drove the field and found the endzone early after a long rushing play set them up nicely. This put the pressure on the Aggies who came back an answered on an efficient drive capped off by a 10 yd pass from Luke to wideout Austin Franklin.
The defense began to work for the Aggies on the next drive as ROLB BJ Adolopho jumped and out route in stride and took it back 66 yds for the touchdown giving the Aggies a 14-7 lead. After both teams sputtered, the Spartans lead a long drive capped off by a 7 yard rush from Liaina to tie the game at 14-14 just 30 seconds before the half.
NMSU struck first in the 3rd as Dustin Luke connected with WR Courtney Vaughn on the streak against cover 0 for a 51 yard score. SJSU answered with a bomb of their own to close to quarter with a 43 yard connection from QB Stewart to WR Grigsby.
In the 4th NMSU got within their 10 with a fresh 4 downs, but after a dropped pass in the endzone on second down, were unable to punch it in for 7 and had to settle for 3 with 5:00 left in the game.
SJSU then proceeded to drive the field and were able to move the ball effectively. With less than 30 seconds left the Spartans had the ball inside the redzone with 30 seconds left. Not settling for the tie the Spartans looked to the air, but threw the ball to the flats where SS Justin Smith had a blanket on the receiver and took a pick 6 88 yds to put the game out of reach.
The win pushes the Aggies to 10-2 (7-2) on the year as they lock up the Scholars division and face Akron in the Conference Championship game.
Pretty retarded that this is the way I find out Nik beat Fever for the division. nikpin
I just looked on DW earlier. Fever threw 7 picks...
7 picks and still had the ball on the 7, down 4, with 3 seconds left.
It would be nice if Nik ran more than 6 plays.
Memphis 21@Akron 27
If Memphis doesn't throw 7 picks due to my aggressive strip ball defense I probably lose this game. Instead the cheese was just 2 strong as I ran an alternating 3-2-6 run commit scheme with a 1-5-5 pass commit scheme to counteract his offense and force turnovers. On offense despite scoring 2 TD's and both in the first half I ran the same 3 plays repeatedly out of no huddle. Trips 4 verticals, 5 wide 4 verticals & Ace Bunch Miami. Fever was never able to figure out the offensive juggernaut that was the Akron Zips as I went an awe inspiring 2-10(20% for the mathematicians) on third down and an even more impressive 0-0 on 4th down. Really the key to the game was my running attack with Karell Bostick rushing the ball 10 times for a 18 yards. But hey those 5 punts were clearly the result of my players being winded due to running up and down the field on offense all game... Unstoppable! hammerhead1010 needs to be ready for the Maryland I next week b/c it's coming!
Sorry finished the game at 11PM and went on living my life.
If this advances today any chance you could play tonight early? I have another user game at 8. But I should get home 4est if you're free.
I could play at 5:30 CST.
I can do that if were advanced.
Stretched a little thin?
Clearly a DCD/Forgetting Sarah Marshall quote.
No, I get it. 'Take my eyes but not the shirt'
As long as it isn't blatant lobby cheese, it's sim. Nik
If I wouldn't have choked away the game I wouldn't have been bitter. Fever & DCD.
I complain of cheese every time I lose. DCD and Fever.
If it ain't cover 3 every play, I'm out. Nik
I sure do wish I could come back to H4Y. Qwon
I consider a convervative zone cheese. DC
Wait he didn't play cover 3 against me every play and I threw 7 picks. Fever
Never called cheese! I just think it's gay when peeps get mad at someone for calling the same plays on offense (not necessarily you) when they don't alter the defensive play. I try to mix it up as much as possible but if I know I'm facing a cover 3 I should just run the couple of plays that I know will beat it. but I'm supposed to mix up my playcalling (as is the D) and choose to do so. I'm not gonna run my personal 'money' plays on 1st 2nd and 3rd downs, only 3rd down. I never said it was cheese. It's not. It just isn't mixing up playcalling but Whatev, I just hate calling the same plays on offense and usually don't.
I like to act like Qwon leaving was my decision. DCD
