Down 20-7 in 4th; Vikings Rally Late to Get W in Detroit

Detroit, MI - The Vikings, riding a 4-game winning streak coming into their Week 15 matchup with the Detroit Lions, have had double-digit first half deficits in all 4 wins. Rookie QB Teddy Bridgewater is quickly piling up 4Q comebacks early in his career, and would have an opportunity to add to that total this week in Detoit.

The Lions would hold the ball for the entire 1st quarter on their opening drive, picking up multiple 1st downs on 3rd & long in the process. However, they would have to settle for 3. After a quick 3 and out by the Vikings, the Lions would tack on another time-consuming drive, this time finishing it off for 6 - a 2-yd TD pass to TE Eric Ebron on 3rd & Goal. Another 3 & out for the Vikings would be followed up by another successful drive by Detroit. A Stafford to Golden Tate TD with just 25 seconds left in the half put the Lions up 17-0. However, Rookie RB Jerrick McKinnon would take the ensuing kickoff 99 yards to paydirt! Score at half: Vikings 7, Lions 17. *Note - The Vikings (#1 offense in the league) would finish the half with negative offensive yardage.

The Vikings would receive the ball in the 2nd half with momentum, but Teddy B would quickly kill that momentum on the 3rd play from scrimmage - an interception deep in Minnesota territory. The D would finally step up, and forced the Lions to kick the FG. The Vkings would move into Lions territory for the first time in the game late in the 3rd, but decided to go for it on 4th & 3 from the Detroit 36, and Cordarrelle Patterson dropped a wide open pass forcing the turnover on downs. Score after 3: Vikings 7, Lions 20.

The 4th quarter has quickly become Teddy B's quarter. He would march the Vikings into Detroit territory for the 2nd time in the game, and this time capitalize on a 1 yd TD run by HB Andre Brown. 3 plays later, the Viking D would step up and CB Josh Robinson would pick off Stafford at the Detroit 23 yd line. The Vikings were in business, but would find out later that play cost Robinson the season. 5 plays later - Teddy would hit TE Rhett Ellison for a 15-yd TD on 3rd & 7. Just like that, Vikings on top 21-20. When it rains, it pours....very next play for Detroit, Stafford was picked off again by Captain Munnerlyn. Teddy would tack on another TD pass to Greg Jennings to put the Vikings up 8. 2 plays later...Stafford's 3rd INT of the quarter; game over.

    Vikings: 28
    Lions: 20
