For the 2nd week in a row, the Carolina Panthers defense forced a late game turnover that allowed them to win a close game. The Panthers defeated the rival Atlanta Falcons 31-28 with a field goal as time expired, after a fumble by ex-Panther Jonathan Stewart in the final minute of the game was recovered by Carolina.

The victory improves Carolina to 14-1 on the season and guarantees them the top seed in the NFC for the upcoming playoffs. In week 17 the Panthers will host the Baltimore Ravens, who will be trying to secure an AFC North Championship with a victory.
