49ers Rest Some Starters, Lose 1st Game Of The Season David Garrard had that magic touch that was missing the first time these 2 met. The Seahawks, now 10-5, had started 0-2 before picking up Garrard and that has turned out to be a move that saved their season. The game didn't start off great for Seattle though. The 49ers were able to build up a 10-0 lead while the Seahawks were being conservative. That's when Seattle started to get a little more aggressive and push the ball through the air. That worked great as the Seahawks responded quickly with a 45 yard TD pass from Garrard to Sidney Rice. San Francisco kept moving the ball after that though and pushed their lead back out to 16-7. The 2nd half was all Seahawks as their offense and defense started to figure out the 49ers. The running game wasn't great but it was effective enough. Seattle closed the gap to 16-14 on their first possession and then took their first lead of the game on their next possession at 17-16. Then on their next possession after that, they extended their lead to 24-16 and would go on to win the game.
