The Cardinals traveled to the Bay Area this week to face the SF 49ers. Things did not start off well for Arizona, with the 49ers getting the first two scores of the game on a Clauson pass to Vernon Davis and a 14 yd run in by Frank Gore. Down 14-0, Arizona was able to get back into the game with a field goal and a TD pass to Early Doucet that was followed by a successful 2 pt conversion that brought the game to 14-11 at the half. The second half of the game was a defensive battle on both sides. Jimmy Clausen was picked three times by the Cards D and was unable to find the end zone. Although their defense was performing well, the Cardinals offense was having trouble converting. The 49ers rush defense locked down on Beanie Wells, limiting him to only 2 yards on 8 attempts. Leinart wasn't having much success in the pass game either, throwing two interceptions. With two minutes to go and a field goal a piece, the Cardinals had a chance to get into field goal range down 17-14. Leinart managed to find Fitzgerald on several big throws and capped the drive off with a TD pass to Steve Breaston. The 49ers would not be able to recover and the game ended with a final score of 21-17.
