Week 17: Giants(14) @ Vikings(45) The Battle for Homefield This week 17 matchup pitted the NFC's two best teams where the winner attained homefield advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. One team came ready to play. The Vikings struck first in the scoring column when sensational rookie PR Percy Harvin took the opening kickoff off the game 100-yds for the score. The Vikings forced Manning and his offense to punt on their first possession. Vikings took advantage and K Ryan Longwell tacked on 3 more with a 49-yd FG. The Giants drove into the redzone on their next possession when a Manning pass to the flats was tipped into the air by CB Antoine Winfield who then caught his own tip and returned the Int 72 yds. for the score. 1st qtr Vikes-17 G-Men-0 The 2nd qtr. was a mirror image of the first. AP took an off tackle run 68 yds for the score and the Vikings defense continued to give Manning fits as they returned 2 more Ints for TDs. One by SS Tyrell Johnson and one by the Vikes defensive MVP Champ Bailey. 2nd qtr Vikes-38 G-Men-0 Seeing that this game was getting out of hand both coaches pulled most of the starters on both sides of the ball to ensure an injuryless game. Both teams 2nd stringers battles it out till the final whistle. Final: Vikes-45 G-Men-14 GG Dean. No doubt this was the exception and not the rule if we were to play again.
