Potato Magic gets back on track and stomps a mudhole in Boise State, 56-19. The game was actually closer than this. I had kind of a bend but don't break defense for most of the game. So they had more first downs and yards, but my defemse stiffened and came up with stops when it needed to. The game was blown open in the 4th quarter when they let a punt bounce inside the 5. The punt died on the 7 and their guy then tried to go pick it up. He fumbled and my gunner scooped and scored. On their next play, their quarterback scrambled for 10 yards and didn't slide. Hit stick and you know how that goes. Always fun to crush Boise. Vandals get hated Texas A&M next week before opening conference play with ULL in two weeks.

Utah State opens the season at home vs UNLV with a 42-3 win. The Rebels left their Vegas home, a place that some Golden Flashes would consider heaven, and they were ready to head back just as soon. The UNLV offense did not have the athletes to run the spread, but ran it anyway with little success. UNLV was held to just 278 total yards. They did get into the redzone 3 times but a came away with only 3 points. The Aggie offense picked up right where it left off but the big surprise was the newcomers. I was prepared to go with 1 premier RB with Davis, but the #2 back McClain earned some carries, taking 11 carries for 103 yards and a TD. The ESPNU top 150 WR Courtney Davis also shined in his opportunity to earn a spot in the rotation. The true freshman caught 5 passes for 128 yards and 2 TDs. Player of the Game goes to QB Adrian Sapp who was 16-20 for 238 yards, and 3 TDs with no picks. Utah State hits the road for the first time to face #20 Arizona State in week 3, followed by a match-up with the defending national champs from West Point.

The Warhawks go to 2-0 with a win over Washington who actually scored the games 2 TDs. But the Warhawks next drive they started airing it out and preceeded to through for 605 yards. The game was back and forth after the first quarter. ULM couldn't run the ball but Kyle McKinney stepped up and through for 4 TDs and only one pick on a deep pass on 3rd and long. Freshman John Smith had a monster day, with 9 catches for 289 yards and didn't drop a single pass. This says the coach earned him a starting job at split end. A job they recruited him for but that his hands have been keeping him out of it.

The game was decided for the second week in a row by corner Chad Washington who had a pick with under a minute to go. Thats his 3rd pick of the season. And would have gave him player of the game honors if it weren't for the QB-WR dual.

Next week the Warhawks travel to Baton Rouge to face the #3 overall LSU Tigers in what looks to be their biggest game of the coaches career.

    Kevin Jefferson Game stats
    2 punts
    36 yard average
    32.5 Net Avg
0 Blocked or Retured for TDs
    0 inside 20
    0 TB's
    1 Tackle

He did have 6 PAT's as he serves as the Warhawks kicker.

The Doak doesn't hold the same aura as it once did as Western Michigan rolls Florida State in a battle of ranked opponents. Dylan complained about their superstar 99 OVR RB and while he did break a ton of tackles there was always another Western Michigan defender nearby to make the stop. He was never able to get going and was limited to less than 50 yards on the ground.

On offense the Broncos continued to roll with Adrian Pollock continuing the trend of being extremely accurate going 14/17 for 328 yards and TD. Backup RB Zach Dennis was the POTG with 4 rushing TDs on 21 carries for 96 yards. For the 2nd week in a row Lucas Wilkerson and Adam Vaughn proved to be favorites of Pollock each catching 4 balls for 100+ yards and a score. The defense was led by Freshman LB Andrew Garret with 6 tackles 2 sacks and a FF.

Next week Western Michigan goes on the road again to face #4 USC.

That's really pretty funny, but I'm going to have to object to any potato references not pertaining to the University of Idaho.
