    NCSU - 24
    Auburn - 37

The Auburn Tigers hosted the NC State Wolfpack on Saturday in a battle of top 25 teams that saw the Tigers come out on top of a hard fought battle.

The momentum quickly went the way of the Wolfpack when on the first play Kiehl Frazier threw an ill-advised pass that was returned to the house for a NCSU touchdown. The Tigers and Frazier were not deterred however, and quickly responded with a touchdown drive that ended in a 40 yard strike to Alfred Wayne. The Tigers would add a field goal to go up 10-0 at the end of one.

The second quarter was all Auburn early, with the Tigers scoring touchdowns on two straight drives. But NCSU had an answer when Tyler Brosius found William Chandler from three yards out and seemingly gave the Wolfpack momentum heading into the half. But Frazier was not to be denied and hit Jacob Singleton on a 80 yard bomb as time expired to give the Tigers a 31-14 halftime lead.

After trading field goals in the third, the Tigers looked to close out the game in the fourth. However, the Wolfpack had other plans as Brosius stormed them down the field, hitting Bryan Underwood from 47 yards out to pull within 10. After a long drive, the Tigers would kick a field goal to extend the lead to 14 and the defense held steady, stopping the Wolfpack on fourth down on their next drive, then running out the clock.

    #9 TCU 40 - #5 LSU 35

If the first year head coach of TCU was hoping to ease his way into the job, no such luck as his first game at the helm came against #5 LSU in a battle of top 10 teams. It looked like nerves might be a factor with the rookie coach, as the Tigers opened up a 14-0 1st quarter lead with relative ease. As the game wore on, the Horned Frogs started to find their rhythm and owned the 2nd quarter, scoring 17 unanswered points to take the halftime lead. The second half was a back and forth battle for all 16 minutes. The teams exchanged TDs, two apiece, followed by a short TCU FG with just under 4 minutes to play to extend their lead to 6. But the visitors from the Bayou struck quickly, a 90 yard TD pass on the first play following the kickoff and just like that, LSU had a 1 point lead. Not to be outdone, the hosts answered right back, returning the ensuing kickoff 101 yards. After a failed two point conversion, LSU took the ball back with 1:30 on the clock trailing by 5. The Frogs defense was ready this time though, and ended the matter with its 3rd interception of the game.

Some big numbers stand out on the stat sheet...

TCU: Trevone Boykin 22-32, 458 yards, 3 TDs, 3 INTs
Blake Brown 4 catches, 158 yards, 1 TD (player of the game)
Greg Richard 4 catches, 140 yards

LSU: Lance Edwards 19-29, 1 TD, 3 INTs
Jakhari Gore 17 carries for 197 yards, 3 TDs
Odell Beckham 3 catches, 1 TD

TCU has some time to recover after their opening game showdown, as they welcome an FCS opponent to Amon G. Carter Stadium next week.

#7 Alabama looks like a team trying to tackle a greased hog, escape Iowa City with a 31-28 win
Alabama couldn't tackle. That was the story of the game but Alabama rallied around Brent Calloway's 153 YDS on 27 carries, Calloway had injury trouble all game and former 5* HB Craig Evans did not do a good job filling in carrying the rock 11 times for just 32 YDS. Alabama is still trying to find a leader on offense with both of their previous leaders being in the NFL. Iowa got off to a quick start by scoring on the opening kickoff after Kevonte Martin Manley took the kick 102 YDS for a TD after he broke six tackles. Alabama would pound the rock down the field but would be forced to kick a field goal from 47 YDS out. Kevonte Martin Manley would again strike catching a pass for 52 YDS for a TD after another series of broken tackles. Once again, Alabama would march down the field but would have to settle for a field goal this time from 48 YDS out. Alabama would finally put it in the endzone with a pass from QB Blake Simms to WR Joe Atkins from 10 YDS out and on that play, Atkins grabbed the Alabama touchdown record. Iowa would score on the last second of the first half on a 0 YD rush by HB Damon Bullock as Alabama went down 21-14 at the half.
The second half was all Alabama though. Alabama would march the ball down the field and on a 3rd and 8 QB Blake Sims would take the rock himself up the middle for a 10 YD TD rush. Iowa's lone score of the half would happen with 0:01 left in the 3rd quarter with a 1 YD rush by HB Damon Bullock to make the score 28-21. The fourth quarter scoring got underway with a 27 YD TD pass by QB Blake Sims to TE Malcolm Faciane on a seam on 3rd and Long to tie the game up at 28. Both Iowa and Alabama would trade off punting until Alabama got the ball back with 3:50, and what ended being the last possession of the game where K Sam Jones nailed his third field goal from 27 YDS out and allowed Alabama to get the win 31-28 in Iowa City.
    Alabama Leaders:
Passing: QB Blake Sims 21 for 30 241 YDS 2 TDS 1 INT
Rushing: HB Brent Calloway 27 ATT 153 YDS
Receiving: TE Harrison Jones 8 REC 100 YDS
Defense: FS Nick Perry 3 TACKS 1 INT
    Iowa Leaders:
Passing: QB AJ Derby 19 for 33 276 YDS 1 TD 1 INT
Rushing: HB Damon Bullock 24 ATT 117 YDS 2 TDS
Receiving: WR Kevonte Martin Manley 7 REC 145 YDS 1 TD
Defense: SS Terry Barrow 7 TACKS
So yeah, Bulldog, like the sliders but I think tackling needs to be raised.

Seminoles get 1st victory of the season
The Seminoles insured that San Diego State will not make this year's title game as the Aztecs were pounded 44-17 in Tallahassee. New Starter Jacob Coker threw for 275 yards with 4 touchdowns to led a balanced FSU passing attack that saw 4 different players with at least 60 yards receiving. Devonta Freeman did not have a good game even though his line looks decent. The bulk of his yards came on 3 plays and he was stuffed for little or no gain for much of the game. The defense played adequately for the most part but sloppy tackling allowed the Aztecs to have a good game running the ball but the deficit made SDSU abandon the run game.
    FSU Key Player
QB Jacob Coker 13/25 275 Yards 4 TD 1 Int

HB Brad McMillan was able to take the following kickoff 101 yards for a TD to tie the game at 7. The Sooners looked good in the second quarter, scoring 21 points and extending their lead to 31-21. Both teams traded touchdowns in the second half, and the Sooners walked away with the win.

    Clemson 59
    Hawaii 7

Clemson rebounded from their week 1 defeat with a W. Tigers raced out to a 42-0 halftime lead thanks to a good running game. Clemson played their 2nd string offense the entire 2nd half or it could have been worse. No need to just play for stats. lol Bobby Barrett and DJ Howard both rushed for over 100 yards and each scored 3 td's. Coach GMONEY had this to say after the game.

"It was a good win for the Tigers. We will work on getting better as a team. Hawaii offense came out into many formations on offense and it was a challenge for my defense. We will try and continue to look for ways by ALWAYS mixing up our play calling on both sides of the ball. We don't want to be marked as a program that uses the same formation and plays on both sides of the ball 85% of the time."

Dawgs hold on to beat Beavers!
Georgia held on Saturday to beat Oregon State 48 to 38. Isaiah Crowell was named player of the game rushing for 216 yards on 26 carries and scoring 1 TD. QB Christian Lemay had a pretty good game throwing for 4 TDs , 244 yards and completing 9 of 20 passes. As you can tell all of Lemays scores were either late in the 1st half or on 3rd and longs(got lucky), Lemay also had 39 yards rushing on 9 carries. WR Chris Conley had the game of his career and broke a school record catching 5 passes for 222 yards and 4 TDs, Conley is usually at slot but was at wideout for most of the game due to injuries by Malcolm Mitchell. Sterling Bailey had another great defensive game sacking the QB 3 times, forcing a fumble and recording 5 tackles. Next week the Bulldogs travel to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks in there SEC opener.

    Miami 41
    Nebraska 83

The worst loss in the history of the Miami program. The defense got torched, giving up 744 yards and the offense didnt help either by giving the ball away 5 times. Nebraska pounded us into the ground. Not a fun game at all. Eduardo clements was the only bright spot as he had nearly 400 return yards and 2 return TDs
