Week 2: Miami @ Minnisota After the loss @ Week 1, Coach Sparano and his team immediately flew to Minnisota to face the Vikings. 7 -3 After 1st quarter. After a field goal by Miami, Peterson and Favre put on a 9 play Drive clinic which ended on a Percy Harvin 8 Yard pass play. On the Dolphins next possesion, Ronnie Brown put on a clinic of his own with runs od 29 and 22, and was rewarded with a 2 yd TD to put Miami on top 10-7. However, Minnisota quickly answered back with a score of their own to retake the lead with less then 2 minutes remaining. However, Henne connected twice with Brandon Marshall on the ensuing drive and Sparano called a bold 4th Down pass play as time expired on the 1 yard line to give the Dolphins a halftime lead of 17-14. The Viking forgot to come out in the 3rd quarter, as Chad Henne and company scored 3 times, capped by a 63 yard pass to Marshall when Henne audibled out of run play when the Viking put 9 in the box and dared us to pass. End of 3rd -- 38-14 The 4th quarter turned into a "really? did that just happen?" quarter. Farve threw a 46 yard pas to Percy Harvin, in double coverage, off his back foot, to start the 4th quarter. The Vikings then recovered an onside kick(first time Ive ever seen that happen) as the hands team had it bounce off of 3 players before being recovered by the Purple and Gold. Farve again played like the 1996 version of himself and led another touchdown drive. The Dolphins recovered the 2nd onside kick, only to have Henne throw a pick when again the Vikings punched 8 into the box and Henne tried to catch them napping. However, on the next play Farve threw a pick six to the big man Randy Starks who broke 3 tackles to score. The Vikings next possesion was ended on a second pick six by second year man Sean Smith, who spent most of the day getting toasted by Percy Harvin. Final Score. 52-27 Passing Farve 23-35 for 301 yds 3TDS and 2 INTS Henne had another inconsistent day going 12-25 for 234 YDS and 3TDS and 3 INTS Rushing A.P. had 21 touches for 106 yards and 1 TD but did have a costly fumble Ronnie Brown was the player of the game with 156 yds and 2 TDS on 22 carries Receiving B Marshall 6 receptions for 145 and 2 TDs Percy Harvin had 5 REC for 97 yds and 2 scores All in all it was a fun game that got ugly late, and also got weird. But the Dolphins will head home happy with a Road split in their 1st two games. But they face two more divisional opponents the next two weeks in primetime, the Jets and the Pats. They need to win these games because the road does not get easier with the Packers, the Steelers, Bengals and Ravens in consecutive weeks following the bye.
