    Week 2 Panthers(28) Vs Falcons(45)

    Falcons flip flop in victory

The Atlanta Falcons get a win against division rivals Carolina Panthers, putting up big numbers in the process, but a feeling of uncertainty lingers after the game. At times Matt Ryan looked like a pro bowl caliber quarterback and at other points in the game fans where booing calling for his benching. A stingy defense in the first half, seemed to vanish before our eyes at times in the second. “We are going to take this win build on what we did right and correct the mistakes. We had a very solid ground game we just have got to stop turning the ball over in the passing game. No, I am not worried about Matt we know this kid is a pro bowler so we just gotta correct the mistakes.”

The first quarter saw the Panthers unable to get into a rhythm offensively, turning the ball over on a fumble on the first drive. Atlanta also seemed unable to establish rhythm on their first offensive possiession which saw Jason Elam miss a long FG. The firs score of the game came on a 6 yard scramble. Atlanta’s defense was dominant getting the ball back for the third straight time on a Brian Williams interception, only to see Ryan throw an interception on the ensuing play as Godfrey took it 70 yards to the house. The second quarter was all ATL as Ryan hit Gonzalez from 10 yards out and Elam hit a 39 yarder making 17-7 going into the half.

Atlanta got the ball back after half and drove their 30 yard line mostly of some nice running by Micheal Turner, capped off by a Jason Snelling 2 yard TD. Carolina’s offense finally came to life as Atlanta’s defense gave up some big plays followed by a DeAngelo Williams TD. Matt Ryan would throw another pick setting up a 50 yard Williams TD run drawing the Panthers within three making it 24-21. Then out of nowhere Jerious Norwood ran the kickoff 100 yards to pay dirt putting the Falcons up for good.
