Sun Devils Dominant the Fighting Illini 38-7
Tempe, AZ - The ASU Sun Devil's defense and special teams led the way to a win with a dominanting preformance against the Illinois FIghting Illini. The defense led by junior Brandon Johnson recorded 8 sacks, 2 int, forced 2 fumbles, and held the Illini offense scoreless. Johnson seemed to be in on every play with 13 tackles(8 solo), a sack, and 2 forced fumbles. When asked about his preformance Johnson gave all the credit to his D-Line. "The D-Line did a fabulous job today of eating up blockers which allowed me to flow to the ball and make plays." said Johnson. Junior defensive tackle Will Sutton recorded 4 sacks. Virtually everytime the Illini droped back to pass Sutton was in the backfield. The Sun Devils special teams contributed to the dominating preformance in the 3rd quarter when Jamal Miles returned a punt 70 yards for a score. The only scoring for the Illini came on a 16 yard fumble recovery for a TD.
ASU's passing offense lead by Mike Bercovici got on track today. Bercovice was 10-17 for 245 yards and 3 TD. RB C. Marshall added 74 yards and a TD. Coach Hurst felt today's preformance was a team effort. "Today was a total team effort. I can't say that one aspect of our team stood out more than another." said coach Hurst "The one thing we can't do after a win like this is to get a big head. This is one win in a long football season and we have a lot of areas we need to improve in if we are going to have a succesful season." Up next for the Sun Devils is a matchup with SEC foe Missouri Tigers.
In Recrutiing news the Sun Devils signed 2 players this week 3 star WR David Dudley(#65 WR) and 3 star DE Edward Love(#38 DE). Dudley is a 6' 197 lbs speed receiver out of Federal Heights, CO. Edward Love is a 6'3" 253 lbs run stopping DE out of Borger, TX.

Winston-Salem, NC - The warriors of Chapel Hill, clad in the Carolina blue and white, opened their regular season and ACC conference play with a throttling victory over rival statesman, Wake Forest, 55-21.

Though the Tar Heels strengths appeared to be on the ground, with All-ACC running back Gio Bernard starring in the offensive backfield, it was the passing game of UNC that wrote the story in this one. Sophomore QB Brynn Renner was tremendous, going 11/22 for 254 yards and a career-high 4 touchdown passes, including a 42 yard strike to open up the scoring on the first drive of the game for NC.

Bernard was held mostly in check by the Demon Deacon defense, touching the ball on 17 carries for 78 yards and a 10 yard touchdown scamper. It was on special teams, however, that the red-shirt Sophomore put his mark on the game, opening the start of the second half with a 98 yard touchdown return that saw the potential All-American leave the trailing defenders gasping for air. Bernard's back up, Junior AJ Blue, came in and played most of the second half, with the outcome well secured, and spelled him for a 15 attempt, 115 yard day.

Defensively for the Heels, Junior defensive end Tim Jackson stole show, consistently pressuring QB Tanner Price, and finishing with both a sack as well as an interception. The defensive team as a whole played exceptionally well, even with the back ups playing for a large part of the second half. The Tar Heels held the Deacon offense to just 263 yards of total offense, and a pedestrian 55 yards on the ground. The Wake Forest offense was reduced to just 10 first downs over the course of the game, and went 1/10 on 3rd down.

The Tar Heels looks to improve to 2-0 in Week 3, as they continue their opening road trip down in Kentucky to face the Cardinals of Louisville.

Ann Arbor, MI - Michigan sneaks past Georgia Tech 20-17 after scoring 14 in the 4th quarter to improve to 2-0 and giving Georgia Tech it's 2nd heart breaking lost of the year. Telvin Washington had a up and down game throwing for 2 touchdowns, but throwing 4 picks, his last came on the last drive of the game that could've tied or won the game for his team. After the defense making a 3 and out Georgia Tech had 1:04 left no time outs, Tech moved ahead to the 45 but Washington throws a pick to end any hope of the Yellow Jackets getting a W on the day. Georgia Tech returns home for a week 3 match up vs Virginia.

Never that, but it was annoying, I had DRob and Michigan all where I wanted them then threw 2 picks in the 2nd half and Michigan scored on the one to take the lead.

    Missouri Tigers: 41
    #5 Georgia Bulldogs: 14

The Tigers were in control the entire game. The Tigers defense continued its high intensity with 2 INTS and 3 sacks. The Bulldogs were only able to convert on 1 3rd down the entire game and only totaled 237 yards.

The Tigers offense pulled a 180 from last week. QB James Franklin was 13-19 with 237 yards and 4 TDs. Senior WR TJ Moe hauled in 6 receptions for 142 yards and 2 TDs.

The Tigers did everything they had to do to get the huge upset and start their SEC career with a win. If the offense can continue to match the intensity of the defense then the Tigers will be in good shape to contend in the SEC.

Ole Miss Beats Themselves Up in Season Opener
The Rebels dominated UTEP in almost all phases of the game, but with two costly turnovers they gave away their home opener in a 17 - 14 defeat. Ole Miss thoroughly outplayed the Miners and controlled the clock for the most game behind a potent, balanced attack. Unfortunately, for the Rebels, two turnovers and two missed field goals equal a loss. On the bright side, Ole Miss now has a good indication of Kicker Bryson Rose's effective range as he fell short on fields goals of 43 and 45 yards. They also know they have a strong running game behind Halfback Jeff Scott who ended up with 134 yards on 25 carries.

Backup QB Leads Cal To Big Win
Cal traveled to San Jose State to play their first away game of the season. They came into the game as big favorites, but with their backup QB playing, no one knew what to expect. Cal got out to an early 14-0 lead and never looked back, beating San Jose State 42-21. The game looks closer than it actually was though, San Jose State was never actually in the game. The Golden Bears started Bridgford at QB and he had a great day, throwing for 206 yards and 5 touchdowns. Nine of his competitions were to stud receiver Keenan Allen, Allen finished the day with 127 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns. Cal running back Sofele had a nice day on the ground as well, rushing for 119 yards on 23 carries and scored one touchdown as well. The Golden Bears improve to 2-0 on the season and look forward to a very tough week three matchup with the Buckeyes of Ohio State. They will surely need another great day from Bridgford to win that game.

    UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!
Philadelphia,PA--- Today the Terps took it on the chin as Temple puts up 21 points in the second quarter to hammer the Terps 41-23.
There was no score after the first quarter as both teams grinded out some offense but no points. After a missed field goal in the second quarter and a stop by the Maryland defense. The Terps drove the ball the length of the field and threw an interception in the red zone but on the next drive for Temple it was picked off and returned for a touchdown Maryland up 7-0. Another Maryland interception led to a 80 yard halfback screen by Temple to tie the game and thats when the flood gates up more interceptions led to more points. Halftime score 21-7 Temple.
The second half was not any better as CJ Brown threw 4 interceptions and was benched in the third quarter and the backup came in and led them to 16 points in the fourth quarter but way too late final score 41-23. We caught up with Coach Moss after the game.
"Today was unacceptable in my book and I hope the kids understand its four quarters of football not one. We can't continue to turn the ball over all the time and give them a short field to work with and our defense needs to stop the ball at the line of scrimmage and start swarming the ball and making some plays. If this continues its going to be a long season and a lot of long Saturday's ahead. No further comment."
Back home for the Terps as they play there third and final game against the Big East as the Huskies of UCONN come to town and lets hope for this reporters sake the kids come out pissed off and ready to hit someone and knock there heads off.
BREAKING NEWS: CJ Brown is now the second string quarterback as Ricky Schultz as now the new quarterback for the Terps.
