Week 2: Texans (3) Titans (28) Chris Johnson breaking a tackle on his 53 yard TD run against the Texans The Houston Texans visited Nashville this week to take on their division rival, the Tennessee Titans, in a early season showdown. The titans are on a roll after a convincing win against the tough ravens and looked to continue their ball control offense and stingy defense. Both defenses were strong in the first, keeping much of the offense under check. The only score came with 7 seconds left in the first, on a 5 yard pass from matt cassel to TE Jared Cook Jr. The texans offense began to rally in the beginning of the second quarter. They drove down the field via big runs by slaton and catches by WR J. Jones. With 1st and Goal from the 5, the titans forced 3 bad plays and the Texans were forced to kick the FG. Two plays into the Titans next possession, Chris Johnson finally broke the big one and scored from 53 yards out to make it 14 to 3. The texans got the ball and drove again but Titans FS Griffen striped Texans WR J. Jones after a 25 yard pass and the titans jumped on the ball. That fumble gave the titans all the momentum in the game and they never lost it. After Driving to the redzone, the titans surprised the Texans by putting Chris Johnson at WR and throwing the WR screen on a quick snap, CJ walked into the endzone untouched to make it 21-3 to end scoring in the half. After a 3 and out by the Titans to start the third, the texans seemed to again be getting their mojo back, until MLB Tullouck intercepted M. Schaub and took it to the house for 6 to make the score 28-3. That would be the final score in the game as the Titans moved to a ball control offense and missed some FGs, and the Texans were forced to pass alot and didnt convert a couple 4th downs. The titans won this game by getting up early and forcing the Texans to be one-dimensional and not turning the ball over. The titans won the turnover battle 3 to 0 and in two games they have a +7 turnover margin. Tennessee Titans: M. Cassel- 14-24 154yds 2TD 0INT C. Johnson- 23rushes 143yds 1TD, 4rec 39yds 1TD L. The jags swept the titans last year so the titans are hoping that with a little luck, an upgraded line, and a stingy defense that they will keep Brees and Co. under control and sneak out of Jacksonville with the win.
