    Week 2 Thoughts

Wow. Did I just see GT blow a nice 24 point lead last night? Midway through the 2nd, I turned the game off to watch the NFL. I turned back in the 3rd and was blown away. GT looked awesome early but I think either they let there guard down or Clemson figured out what to do on defense. GT's speed showed early.

Why wasn't that final kickoff a safety? The returned touched the ball and then went out of the back of the endzone......

Seems to be a ton of non BCS conference teams beating or taking big programs to the last second.
ND, what can I say? Their offense looked unbelievable in the 1st half and D didn't play bad but then in the 2nd half their D was like swiss freakin cheese and they just shot themselves in the foot over and over with holding penalties. Great game though.

I'm from Lansing (which is adjacent to East Lansing, Michigan State's home) and I got my degree from Michigan State, but I'm a lifelong Wolverine fan.

I'm starting to feel like the only guys who knows anything about football around here.

Toledo is a good team. Central Michigan is a really good team. Houston is a really good team. Fresno is a really good team.

Why do we think that every BCS team is simply going to walk over everyone every week? San Jose got drilled last week, and now, they're tied with another ranked team at the half.

The Big Ten isn't dominating, but why all the attention? The ACC is worse than two non-BCS conferences (WAC and MWC) easily so far, and the Big 12 is not doing much better. Why is only the Big Ten worth the scrutiny? My point isn't that other conferences are bad; it's that none of the conferences are as bad as you hear on the idiot box. C'mon, guys, let's have a bit of independent thought here. This parroting stuff has got to go.

Look - every year the MAC shocks someone, and people act like it's never happened before. Every year one or more of the unbeatable teams lays an egg and takes a loss, and people act like it's never happened before. The guys on the field know that it has happened before, and that's why they play ... and we watch.

If the Chippewas thought like you guys, they wouldn't even need to get off the bus.

Nice wins for the MAC. My only surprise is that I seem to be the only one not surprised.

It is because people still haven't gotten over the mentality of 20 years ago when there were 15 dominate forces in CFB. Now, kids know they can go to Houston and get just as much attention as a BCS school.

The only people who don't realize the talent levels are closer than people think are these people. The drop off in starting talent from Oklahoma State to Houston is not that big. Generally depth is the key, but depth offers more long term success than one game success. There is really not that big of a difference between a decent to below average team and a FBS school (see Florida State today).
