All recaps go here
Week 2 @ Down goes an NCAA record! This one was dubbed the College Game Day game of the week putting up coach Alemic against his old school the Idaho Vandals. Folks around Moscow are still hurt after their coach left after only one year with the team. The Vandals lost week 1 but only by 4 to a talented Stanford team, while the Hoosiers upset the #2 ranked Buckeyes of Ohio State. This match up put two of the twelve spot light coaches and looked like it was going to shape up to be a good one.Indiana on the other hand had another type of game in mind. Darius Willis would break an NCAA single game rushing record, busting out an outstanding 430 yards. Nobody would of been able to call the total domination Indiana put up this week. Idaho's main form of offense came through the passing game to their TE. On their first drive they fumbled the ball away and Indiana punched the ball in on the ground. The second drive would end with a field goal, however Indiana would once again find the endzone. Idaho thought they would remain close by scoring a TD with under 30 seconds left in the first quarter, only to see Willis break a 78 yard TD run. The game would be essentially over after that.Final Score:Indiana 35 Idaho 24Key Stats:PassingDusty Keil 1-3 24 yards 0 TD 0 INTRushingDarius Willis 27 attempts 430 yards 5 TDDefensiveChris Adkins 3 tackles 1 sack 1 FFPassingBrian Reader 14-19 277 yards 1 TD 2 INTRushingPrinceton McCarty 6 attempts 40 yards 0 TD (went down for 7 weeks early in the game)Ryan Bass 14 attempts 35 yards 2 TDReceivingTaylor Elmo 8 catches 167 yards 0 TD
Well said alemic. Are we going to have a recruiting thread?
MTSU EMU kicking off... NOW!
MTSU's huge second half leads to winMTSU notched their win of the season to get to 1-1 with a 35 to 27 victory over Eastern Michigan. MTSU trailed 24 to 7 at the half but then went on to outscore the opposition 39 to 3 after the break. "We made adjustments at halftime, and they worked obsivously, the defense played much better and Gordon kinda got comfortable after the break," said Hickerson. Gordon Archie, the true freshman quarterback(57 overall lol) made his first career start and played much better than people expected. Archie went 9 for 14 for 135 yards and a touchdown. Archie threw 1 interception but to his credit it was on a deep jump ball. Ben Cunningham was the star offensively, carrying the ball 20 times for 88 yards and three trips to the endzone. It was the defense however that set the tone for the second half, they came out hitting hard and forced two turnovers on EMU's first 2 possessions of the second half, scoring on one, and setting up a very short field for the offense on the other. Justin Jones led the defense with 6 tackles, but it was Gorby Loreus who was the MVP of the defense according to Hickerson, Loreus spied on the EMU quarterback the entire second half. Dearco Nolan also had a big day, posting 4 tackles and 2 sacks from his defensive end position, along with falling on a loose ball in the endzone for a touchdown.
