BUCKEYES MAKE STATEMENT IN Chick-fil-A CLASSIC

After falling a spot in the rankings after a bye week, the No. 5 ranked Buckeyes came into the Chick-fil-A classic with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove. Suffice to say, Ohio State showed everybody that it is a serious national title contender by shellacking the No. 24 West Virginia Mountaineers, 77-6 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

The 77-point outburst was the largest in the Speyer era, and the points came in a multitude of ways. The main catalyst was Dontre Wilson, who again did a little bit of everything for the Scarlet and Grey. Wilson scored two touchdowns on the ground, two through the air, and also returned a punt 87 yards to total five scores on the game, despite playing only one drive in the second half. The Buckeyes offense did just fine with the second team, as freshman signal caller Elijah Canaan completed 15-of-18 passes for 192 yards and three scores.

Defensively, the Silver Bullets looked as good as they have in years, constantly pressuring the WVU quarterback and causing three-and-outs. Junior defensive end Ray Sutton tallied two sacks in his first career start, but the star of the game was sophomore nickel corner Marshon Stephens. The former top rated cornerback in the nation intercepted two passes and also forced a fumble, making a serious case to move up on the OSU depth chart.

Next week the Buckeyes open conference play against Northwestern.

LOL well my wonderful QB started out the game by throwing a slant route into the ground 5 yards behind my WR (0-1). Then he completed one in the flats to Clement for 8 yards (1-2). Then he threw a ball into the ground 5 yard infront of a wide open curl route (1-3). Hit Clement in the flats for -7 (2-4). Then my WR droped a deep ball when he got hit (2-5). Completed one to Clement on a screen for 7 Yards (3-6). I threw into coverage because I read it wrong (3-7). Then he threw a ball 5 yards behind a slant route (3-8).

That was in the first half, so I gave up on passing because my defense was playing well and just ran the ball every down in the second half, instead of forcing the issue which would more then likley ended up with an errant pass going right into a defenders hands.......
