Week 3 #3 Michigan at # 10 ASU The Sun Devils won the toss and marched down the field for a TD set up by a couple third down conversions and some nice play calling. 7-0 ASU The Wolverines managed to drive also on march that looked a bit like the opening drive by ASU, a few third down conversions and a few decent runs. 7-7 were looking at a shootout. But then it changed. The Michigan D would be the first to step up stopping ASU on a 4th and short. ASU and Michgan would take turns getting stops on D. Michigan then got its second 4th down stop and marched down to the ASU 15 yard line and we stalled kicking a FG. 10-7 Wolverines. ASU would drive down the field and take the lead back. 14-10. Just before the half we get a stop and start to move the ball. With 20 seconds left we were just outside the 35. We had noticed that the ASU defense wanted to run outside around our OT's on the pass rush, so we stepped up in the pocket and hit WR Robinson on a deep in route in the middle of the field and he did the rest taking it in for a TD breaking a tackle along the way. 17-14 Wolverines at the half. The second half would feature some of the best D by two teams I have seen played to date in NCAA 09. We went back and forth several times with either sacks, picks or very short gains on the ground causing several punts. Good ole MO was swinging back and forth so may times I thought someone would be able to move the ball. Then a big play was made by RS Soph MLB Mike Witherspoon, with pressure applied by a Michigan DE the ASU qb panicked and tossed a ball into the middle of the field that he should have ate and taken a sack on. Spoon stepped in front and Michigan was in business. We were extra carefull and it took 6 runs and one pass to move some 25 yards and Freshman RB Ingram pounded in the one yd TD to give Michigan a 7 point lead. 24-17 with around 4 mins left. The Michigan D wasnt done however making another huge stop and then running some clock and booting a FG for a ten point advantage. 27-17. CB Rudd would then seal the deal with a pick, the ground game had just enough juice and we were able to get a first down and then take three knees to secure the win at ASU 27-17. The score doesnt show how inept both O's were or how good of D both teams played. Michigan had 223 in total O and ASU had around 190 I think. After the first two drives of the game both D's were the story. The Big Ten nets another win outside of conference on the road and should hold the top four spots in the polls on Monday.. GG Ramirez.
