    Week 3: Detroit Lions(44) @ Minnesota Lions(31)

Detroit Lions step out of the basement & into the Win column.

Minnesota was the setting of a battle of two winless teams desperate for a win.
The 0-2 Lions played visitors to 0-2 Vikings in this early season divisional battle.

Vikings won the toss and Coach Tank decided to take the ball to open the game. The unretired wonder Brett Farve led a charge down the Lions throat that was capped off by a Toby Gerhart 3-yd TD run.

The Lions quickly answered with a beautiful "Reggie Bush" endzone pylon dive by rookie Jhavid Best for the 11-yd TD run.

    1st Qtr.

Both offenses opened it up in the 2nd qtr. and began exchanging long TD passes.

Farve connected with Percy Harvin on beautiful 30-yd strike & later in the quarter Sidney Rice was the recipient of an 82-yd. TD pass.

The Lions & 2nd year QB Matt Stafford would not be outdone as he hit new aquired WR Braylon Edwards on 47 & 77-yd. bombs. The difference in this quarter is a 33-yd FG by the Lions Jason Hanson.

The Lions recieved the 2nd half kickoff and after a long screen pass from Stafford to HB Kevin Smith, WR Braylon Edwards registered his 3rd score in a Lions uniform as he took a WR end-around 18-yds for the score.
Stafford was not done as he hit WR Nate Burleson on a 43-yd scoring strike that seemed to just pass through the chest of the Vikes FS.

The Vikings would add a Ryan Longwell 40-yd FG.

    3rd Qtr.

The Lions defense would hold the Vikings scoreless for most of the 4th quarter. The Lions added a late Kevin Smith 11-yd TD run to ice the game.

Coach Tank played to the whistle though and as the game clock struck zero Farve connected with Harvin on a 30-yd TD pass.

    Here are the ridiculous stats:

    Farve-24-34. 407yds, 3 TDs, 1 Int
    Peterson-16car, 151yds
    Rice-7rec, 157yds, 1 TD
    Harvin-5rec, 107yds, 2 TDs

    Stafford-18-24, 469yds, 3 TDs, 1 Int
    Smith-14car, 47yds, 1 TD,4rec, 132yds
    Best-6car, 47yds, 1 TD
    Edwards-6rec, 194yds, 2 TDs, 1 car, 18yds, 1 TD **Player of the Game**

Good Game Tank & I look forward to the rematch in Detroit.
