The Lions defense made sure rookie QB felt just this way in week 3, as they got to young Christian Ponder 8 times and forcing 2 INT's. Minnesota's high risk/high reward defense kept the game close into the third quarter, until Matthew Stafford unleashed his arm and found Calvin Johnson twice on two long scores. Stafford finished the day 21-30 for 315 yards, 3 TD's, and 1 INT. Calvin Johnson was the biggest benefactor of Stafford's afternoon, hauling in 6 catches for 172 yards and all 3 TD's. The Lions coaching staff could not speak highly enough about the defense though... Despite giving up big yards through the air, Ponder did not have much time to throw at all. Suh and Cliff Avril both had 2 sacks, and probably one of the biggest plays of the game was the forced fumble on the punt, where Lawrence Jackson recovered and waltzed into the end zone to even the score early in the game. Next week, the Lions look to continue their good fortunes as they travel to the JERRY DOME to take on the Cowboys.
