WEEK 3 IS OPEN! DEADLINE IS THURSDAY, 2/17/11, AT MIDNIGHT EST... GREAT JOB EVERYONE, ONCE AGAIN, FOR GETTING YOUR GAMES COMPLETED TIMELY! The online franchise has been advanced to week 3!!! Please continue to schedule your game in the scheduling forum so that Eddie and I are aware of what is going on (or not) and who is on vacation when so that we can plan deadlines accordingly and allow you time if necessary. Since we are able to open the week on Sunday, the deadline for week 3 will be Thursday, 2/17/11, at midnight EST. Of course, if everyone is able to get their game in before the deadline we will proceed with the advance to week 4 earlier than scheduled. If you were removed from the online franchise in order for your game result to be simmed due to a disconnect, you should have an invite to rejoin. The password will be sent to you via YIM upon request. We all want to win, but this is NOT a win at any cost league by any means. Just a few reminders for everyone to review and please keep in mind as we progress into our third season together... 1) MIX IT UP. Too much of one thing is not a good thing. We all have our strengths which is fine. We all have base formations that we prefer to use on both sides of the ball which is fine. Just remember to use everything in moderation. If you pinpoint a weakness in your opponent's offense and/or defense, by all means you have the right to exploit that weakness. However, do so by selecting different plays and formations versus using the same player and/or play. If you have a player that has an outstanding performance on either side of the ball as a result, at least we know it wasn't because you hadn't mixed things up. We're a sim league, so let's play that way. Capiche? 2) MATCH UP ON DEFENSE. We've all been doing this for a while now. Match up your defensive personnel to what the offense is showing. Yes, there are certain situations where you're going to come out in a dime or quarter defense regardless of the offensive package such as 3rd or 4th and long. The same goes for eight-in-the-box or goalline defense in in short yardage situations in the Red Zone. Use some common sense and be realistic about it. 3) QUARTERBACK MOVEMENT. Dropping or rolling to avoid a sack is warranted if defensive pressure is there. You can't intentionally drop your QB back 10+ yards OR sprint to the sidelines immediately following the snap just to get receivers open. Yes, some quarterbacks are more designed to throw on the run just as it is sometimes easier to break down a defense when your quarterback is on the move. However, taking the quarterback out of the pocket should be a designed play and/or a reaction to the defense ONLY. 4) SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER MOVEMENT. Please remember that manually moving a defender on special teams before the snap is strictly prohibited. 5) IF YOU'RE UP BIG, RUN. We don't care if your opponent knows what is coming. If the game is already in hand, please respect your opponent and run the ball. This is the ONE situation where we could understand the playcalling may be less mixed. Calling a pass play to attain the first down on your own end of the field is understandable, but if you're in FG range you better be calling a run play. No QB draw, no PA scramble, no WR end around... Just run the damn ball. Enough said. Thanks for your attention regarding these items and the rest of the league gameplay rules, guys. You can find an updated offline roster file on the XFN site. Good luck to everyone in week 3!
