After an embarrassing performance against the Titans, the Texans worked all week on their running game, and boy did it pay off! Balance was the goal for this weeks match-up. The Texans hit an early gear that not many teams in the league could have matched. The offense and defense were both hitting on all cylinders. Schaub threw an early interception but other than that he completed EVERY SINGLE PASS HE ATTEMPTED, this is second time in three weeks that he has completed over 95% of his passes, only missed 1 pass in a game, and thrown for over 250 yards. Matt Schaub's accuracy this year has been uncanny.

The first score of the game came on a quick route, fake screen, to Andre Johnson who was lined up in the slot. Johnson broke one tackle and was off to the races for 67 yards. That was all she wrote for the first quarter, besides the score, the two teams exchanged turnovers.

The second quarter the Texans managed to drive down the field and punch it in when rookie Middlebrook punched it in from 1 yards out. However, the Chargers would quickly answer when Antonio Gates would score from three yards out with 1:47 left in the half. Just when it looked like the chargers would be going to half time only down 7, the Texans used a beautiful two minute drive and using no huddle got all the way down to their own 21 yard line. Schaub was quoted as saying "We felt like we sucked some air out of them after we got that fieldgoal to end the 1st half! They worked hard to get that 7 and we just walked up the field and got 3 points, i think it deflated them!"

The third quarter opened up with another interception by Phillip Rivers and the Texans were able to get in the endzone with a 10 yard pass to Andre Johnson. The Chargers would answer just two minutes later with another pass to Antonio Gates from 6 yards out. The Texans from this point would use their running game to drain the clock and the Chargers defenses energy. Slaton would break an 11 yard TD run with 27 seconds left in the 4th quarter. On the ensuing kickoff, Sproiles would fumble the ball and the Texans would recover with great field position. Middlebrook, who has been a steal in the draft, would punch it in from 2 yards out just a minute later. But just as the Texans went into cruise control, Sproiles made up for his fumble but taking a kickoff 103 yards for the touchdown. They would fail the two point conversion and the Texans would run out the clock from that point.
