Week 3: Toledo @ Ohio State

Poised to avoid an 0-3 start the Buckeyes came out and asked to receive the ball. They got it and Terelle Pryor threw an interception instantly to FS Faison. The Rockets were unable to capitalize and settled for a FG. The next series for the Buckeyes was short lived but in a positive way for the fans in Columbus. Herron broke a 70 yard TD run.

After a glorious punt by Toledo, and a holding call the buckeyes found themselves deep in their own territory which was key for Toledo who forced a fumble and Barry Church Star Senior took it in from 8 yards out for six points. After a Toledo interception Ohio State found the end zone again for a 14-10 lead to end the first quarter.

IN the second defenses played tough and only one score thanks to a 49 yard run by Boom Herron made it look like the true powerhouse of Ohio had finally arrived with a 21-10 lead going into the half.

With Aaron Opelt injured D.J. Linehan was called upon to provide the Rockets with a leader at QB. While he struggled in the first half he found Kenny Stafford for 62 yards in the early third quarter to put Toledo within 4 of the buckeyes. Ohio State did not lay down as they drove right back and kicked a FG to increase the lead to 7. After forcing a 3 and out Ohio State came back out on offense and while trying to set up a PA pass Pryor was hit as he threw and star Junior CB Marrow grabbed the ball and returned it 60 yards for the 24 all tie.

Ohio State did not lay down again and drove right back down for another FG making it 27-24 Ohio Statye at the end of 3.

The 4th quarter began with a mix of run and pass from Toledo that led to a Dejuane Collins TD. Toledo had grabbed the lead for the first time since early in the first quarter. After forcing the Buckeyes to third down Pryor looked deep to Devier Posey but Marrow was there again to take his second interception of the game. Toledo then commenced a 4 minute drive that led to a FG and Toledo was up a touchdown. Ohio State had 50 seconds and no timeouts to score. Pryor immediately forced a pass to Raymond Small and was picked off. The Rockets assumed the victory formation and claimed to be the first Ohio school to knock off Ohio State in about 70 years.
