Coach G: The "U" is gonna Regulate Southern Cal's Offense
"We aren't too worried about that offense, Kessler is soft and their run game couldn't beat themselves out of a wet paper bag. Revenge will be served on a cold platter tonight."

With the last one (or two?) meetings going the way of the Trojans, the default position on this one is to assume that GSU continues with his winning ways. After a recent win over "the best player on TSO", GSU's stock is even higher. If only he could play all H2H games ...

Quarterbacks: Big edge to USC with 5th-year QB Cody Kessler and his 99-accuracy cannon of an arm. Miami's Ryan Weldon has great mobility, but coach Schad is gonna keep him in the pocket. Weldon is -14 on accuracy (compared to Kessler) and the over/under on picks thrown by Miami in this one is set at 4.

Running backs: Small edge to USC with 5th-year HB George Farmer. Miami has a speedy midget in Randy Johnson who might have issues holding on to the ball. USC also has much better fullbacks if they run any pro sets.

Receivers: Small edge to USC who has slightly better talent in their top three and much better talent in their depth. Both teams are even at TE, though USC has two monster underclassmen (6-6 and 6-8 and loaded with potential).

O-Line: USC has a young line with an average rating around 85. Miami's line isn't quite as young, but rates at the same 85.

D-Line: Miami has a big advantage on the D-line with senior leadership and some play-makers, averaging around an 87. USC has a veteran D-line that is void of superstars with an average rating of 84.

Backers: USC has some strong backers with an average just over 85. Miami has two good SR LBs, but drops off in 3 or 4 backer sets with an average of 83 on their top 3.

Corners: USC is strong in their top-2, but the experience drops off quickly from there - averaging 84 across their top 3. Miami is much the same averaging just under 83 across their top 3.

Safeties: Both teams have lousy free-safeties while USC has a good SS. USC averages 82 and Miami averages 78.

Summary: USC has a considerable advantage at the one position that should be the difference - quarterback. The rest of the differences are small. Miami looks best in a 3-2 or 4-2 defensive front and will need some big plays from underclassmen in the secondary.

If Miami can protect the ball and limit the turnovers, they should be able to compete. But the talent discrepancy at QB and playing on the road has us thinking that it could be another long day with turnovers for the 'Canes.

USC has some weapons and are playing really well right now. Gonna be a big task for the Canes to pull a win out in LA.

Even though he's a cock sucker and has constantly rooted against me for the past 2 seasons I will give my unbiased opinion and say Miami pulls out close one. Sorry Mike, you're my boy, going with my instinct on this one.
