Canes and Jackets Go to War

    Miami 27
    Georgia Tech 24 (OT)

    PFP 1-4.JPG

These two teams have had some barn burners in the past, but this may go down as one of the classics between these two ACC Coastal foes. The game started out with both teams feeling each other out. Miami was pounding the ball quite well with Mike James back from Injury, he didnt appear to lose a step. The Canes couldnt find the endzone though and the quarter finished 3-0 Miami.

To start the second Miami gathered a lot of momentum and was stuffing GT's option attack and on offense they were clicking. Mike James ran for 58 yards and a TD in the beginning of the 2nd to take a 10-0 lead. Then on Miami's next posession they drove down the field and Ryan Williams connected with Asante Cleveland for a 15 yard TD to take the 17-0 lead. GT got a big run out of Tevin Washington to bring them into FG range before halftime and at half the score was 17-3.

The 3rd quarter was all Georgia Tech. They came out of halftime and seemingly had all the momentum. They put together two 10+ play drives for two scores and kept Miami from even sniffing the endzone. They also forced Ryan Williams into throwing his first interception of the season. At the end of the third its 17 all.

The 4th quarter was back and forth with neither team seeming to gain an advantage over the other. Both offenses seemed to sputter a bit and the defenses were showcasing their ability, but with about 2:14 left Miami QB Ryan Williams found his TE behind the defense after GT went one safety high. He hit him with a beautiful pass TD for 45 yards to take a 24-17 lead. The Miami defense was up, all they had to do was make a stop and they could sneak out with the victory, but with 44 seconds left GT QB Tevin Washington hooked up with his WR for a 56 yard TD. The Crowd erupted! Miami wasnt done yet though, they drove down the field in a no huddle offense and set up the 52 yard game winning FG. It went up and was right down the middle, but it fell about a yard short. OT!

In OT Miami won the toss and elected to start on defense, they stuffed GT on the first two plays, and on the 3rd pressured him , forcing him to roll out where he under threw his WR and CB Ladarius Gunter was johnny on the spot with the int! Miami K Jake Wieclaw then nailed the 42 yard FG to grab the victory and notch Miami its 2nd ACC win of the season.

    September 22nd, 2012 - Los Angeles, California
After a dissapointing loss to Wisconsin in Week 2, and a week off, the Oregon State Beavers traveled down to L.A. to try and fight off the upstart 3-0 UCLA Bruins. With the time off so early, analysts mentioned the OSU team getting cold, but what happened instead was they had that much longer to get revved up for their PAC-12 Opener.
UCLA, for the fourth consecutive game, would start things off on offense. Brett Hundley would look in good form, as a suprisingly balanced attack led them down the field to take the lead 3-0 off a Fairbairn field goal. Oregon State would take their first lead of the game after a fantastic Sean Mannion pass to wideout Brandin Cooks. The Second Quarter would bring more of the same, an Oregon State Field Goal and big Malcolm Agnew 43 yard run would allow a 14 point lead to be kept through most of the game from that point on. Brett Hundley and co. still managed to get a touchdown in the half, to Ricky Marvray, going in at halftime down only 17-10.
The second half started lackluster for both offenses, as a cat and mouse game was played between their teams return man and punter, often times not giving the returner a chance to break one free. An excellent punt by Oregon State pinned the Bruins inside their own 10 yard line, where a big sack on Brett Hundley from DJ Welch forced a fumble, a fumble that was picked up by Michael Doctor who took just a couple of steps to the endzone, extending the lead to 14 once again; 24-10. UCLA's answer? A solid drive with Ricky Marvray taking a step out of bounds just a little too early, forcing UCLA to put up another field goal. To make things worse, Malcolm Agnew would take another one to the house, this time a 67 yarder that extended the Oregon State lead to 18, 31-13 Beavers.
But Jim Mora Jr would give the keys to Brett Hundley, and hope that his magic was the answer. It was. Two consecutive drives by Hundley would end with a passing touchdown to James Fauria and Jerry Rice Jr respectively, cutting that lead into 4 rather quickly. Luckily for the Beavers, a drive ending with a field goal would allow the defense to unleash a little bit, as Overtime would likely be the result instead of losing the play from the aforementioned 4 point lead. Now 34-27. With 2:35 remaining, off a fantastic return by Johnathan Franklin that put them at about midfield, Hundley would take the Bruins down the field 46 yards, to have a pass picked off by Scott Crichton, a big-un from the defensive line and returned nearly for a touchdown. Instead, he was stopped at the UCLA 30 yard line, where a three and out might have been costly for the Beavers as their field goal attempt was missed. With 38 seconds left, Hundley hit Ricky Marvray twice in a row, the first for 14 yards, the second for 52 yards, giving the Bruins the chance to tie it up in the red zone. Four incompletions, including one on 4th down due to pressure from the blitz would seal the victory for the Oregon State Beavers! This also ended the undefeated dream of the Bruins(yeah right!) and puts them at 3-1 to begin the season, and 0-1 in conference play.
    Final Score :
    Oregon State 34 - 27 UCLA
    Player of the Game :
Malcolm Agnew, OSU, 26 attempts, 223 yards and 2 touchdowns
gg sawemoff. It was a pleasure.

A special day for a special player playing a special game !
Thomas has an amazing 2nd quarter leading the Ducks to a rebound win

    Oregon 54
    Arizona 21

The Ducks came into this week 4 matchup hoping that this game was not like the last ...... a predetermined loss ..... and were surprised to find a way to win despite the outstanding defensive line play by the much feared Arizona front four.

For the most part the Oregon Ducks fat ass offensive line struggled again today to find any kind of block beyond an artery or two , however the defense was stout and led to many return chances for Sophomore De'Anthony "short-bus" Thomas. Which as the Wildcats found out , gave opportunity to some amazing returns. The first quarter was pretty un eventful as it ended 3-0 Oregon, but in the second quarter Thomas would explode with what must have been a record day. Two minuets into the second quarter Arizona was forced to punt and Thomas returned it to the house for an 85 yard TD. The next Wildcat possession looked to get them on the board as they marched down the field, but an untimely holding penalty forced a long FG, which Thomas returned 108 yards for a TD. If that was not enough after a quick Wildcat scoring drive Thomas then took the next kickoff 95 yards for a TD. So for those who like Thomas cannot count so great , that is 3 special teams TD's in one quarter for a total of 288 yards.

After that it was smooth flying and easy quacking as the Ducks romped in this one , however , do to Oregon governor John Kitzharber's ( and Kris Kristopherson look a- like pictured here ) oregon governer.jpg
new prison work fur-low program the camera's used in the first half recorded only shitty angles and a few snippets of fat women walking up the concession stand in green sweatpants , so there sadly was no highlight of this "special" day for Thomas.

When asked about his performance after the game Thomas had this to say

    Stats

Oregon - total yards 673

    Passing - Bennett 13-26 261 yards 1 TD
    Rushing - Bennett 12 car 89 yards
    Receiving - Hoffman 8 rec 128 yards 1 TD
    Defense - Alonso 12 tackles 3 TFL 1 sack 1 INT

Player of the Game - De'Anthony Thomas

USC wins at home against Cal
    [IMG]
In week 4 USC makes it home to play Cal in their 2nd straight conference game. We wouldn't disappoint and go on to beat Cal with ease 38-14. Matt Barkley once again be the player of the game throwing for 316 yards and 4 touchdowns. Curtis McNeal would only have 59 yards rushing but ran for a touchdown on the first drive of the game. We had 129 total rushing yards. Marquise Lee would lead the receiver's catching 5 passes for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns. On defense, Hayes Pullard would dominate recording 7 tackles and 2 sacks. Next week we have a BYE week and then have two away games at Utah and then Washington.

    Heels Take Home Opener 44-21
    WATCH IN HD
Despite an impressive performance from ECU QB Rio Jonson, who threw for a blistering 380 yards and 3 scores (0 INT), North Carolina emerged victorious Saturday afternoon at Keenan Memorial Stadium. QB Bryn Renner had his best game yet, going 19-26 for 325 yards 4 TDs and 1 INT. Romar Morris provided nice balance with the running game, dashing for 115 yards. The defense, which continues to generate good pressure (4 more sacks), was once again burned through the air. Many are questioning the Heels ability to stop the pass, and that will surely be tested in the coming weeks. Travis Hughes led the defensive effort with 7 tackles and a sack.
The Heels take on the Idaho Vandals of the WAC next week in final preparation for conference play.
