Jets Outlast Niners in Defensive Battle
    Niners 6 Jets 16

New York (AP) – In an old school game that looked more like the smashmouth football of the fifties and sixties than the high-flying game of the twenty-first century, the New York Jets outlasted the visiting San Francisco 49ers to win a low-scoring, defensive battle at home.

The Jets were led by defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, who terrorized Niners quarterback Colin Kapernick, finishing the game with four sacks. Carols Rogers and Perrish Cox were standouts for the Niners, finishing with two interceptions and two sacks respectively.

The Jets' woeful offence remained disappointing. Mark Sanchez finished the game with a pathetic 37.6 QB rating. Under the smothering defence, Kapernick didn't fair much better, ending the game rated with a 39.5.

Tight end Vernon Davis, expected to play a major role in the game, was held to a disappointing three receptions for thirty-six yards and was visibly frustrated as he was blanketed by double coverage whenever he took the field.

After the game, Jets' coach Dan Koziar said, “Our defence carried us, today. We went into the game knowing we would have to shut down Vernon Davis and Frank Gore, and we did just that. Our offence, on the other hand, was extremely disappointing. I expect better from Mark, from Shonn and from the whole offensive unit. Our offensive line wasn't doing a good job of protecting Mark, but I definitely can't overlook three picks in a game. Not acceptable. Let me just say that we'll be examining our offensive options in the next few weeks and I intend to ensure I field the best team possible.”

    Player of the game:
    Muhammad Wilkerson (4 sacks)

    Notables:
Carlos Rogers (2 sacks, 4 tackles)
Perrish Cox (2 interceptions, 2 tackles)
LaRon Landry (1 forced fumble, 1 interception, 4 tackles)

    "Giants Defense Dominates Vick"

Michael Vick was uncomfortable with the Giants D-Line all game. The Giants front four got to Vick 3 times (JPP with two sacks, and Justin Tuck adding the dagger late in the fourt to turn the ball over on downs).

The Giants offense awoke after a dismal performance last week in Carolina. Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 161 yards. Eli Manning struggled throwing the ball deep, but was able to make key plays in the 4th quarter including a 26 yard pass to Hakeem Nicks that got the Giants out of their own 5 yard line.

    Dolphins Fall To Cardinals, 27-3

While the Dolphins were able to keep it close in the first half, 3 Ryan Tannehill interceptions proved to be too much to overcome. Aside from one big touchdown reception by Michael Floyd on the first drive of the game, the Dolphins defense remained very strong in the first half providing no running room and limiting the big play.

However, the second half was a completely different story. With fantastic field position most of the second half because of takeaways, the Cardinals got the ground game working, finishing with 218 rushing yards. Beanie Wells had the game of his young career, rushing for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns. Ryan Williams also ripped off a long 50 yard run in the 4th quarter as the Cardinals drained the clock. The player of the game was without a doubt Patrick Peterson, who had 2 interceptions, and was a major factor in the return game.

PACKERS RALLY TO DEFEAT NEW ORLEANS 29-26
    [IMG]
The Packers on Sunday got their first taste of football in the rain this season but It did not go quite as well as they hoped to start off. Luckily, Green Bay (4-0) managed to make the plays late when it mattered including an onside kick recover and a late 72 yard TD catch by WR Jordy Nelson to survive by 3 against a hungry Saints team.
Green Bay got off to a sloppy start. There were many offensive miscues including a fumble by Jonathan Stewart, and wide receivers struggling to keep their footing in the rain. The Packers saw a couple drives end because of this and the Saints also were able to get a fumble recovery touchdown from LB Curtis Lofton. The Packers luckily also held to Saints on drives to Field Goals. Saints kicker Garrett Hartley kicked 4 field goals on the day connecting on all of them. Trailing 26 to 14 later in the fourth quarter with the ball, Aaron Rodgers threw the perfect pass to Jordy Nelson who was able to get behind the defense and score a quick much needed touchdown. After that it was all up to the special teams unit and K Mason Crosby to recover the onside kick "With the onside you want to try and get a good hop or hope that someone on the receiving team mishandles the ball," said Mason Crosby after the game. Luckily for Green Bay someone did and the Packers recovered the ball. Aaron Rodgers and James Jones then connected on a 17 yard pass TD to get the lead late. Drew Brees threw 2 INT's to seal the game for the Pack.
    NOTABLE STATS
    -Aaron Rodgers 14/27 257 Yards 3 TD 0 INT
-Jermain Gresham 5 REC 99 Yards
-Jordy Nelson 3 REC 99 yards
    -Taylor Mays 1 INT
    -AJ Hawk 1 INT

Down by 12 points with less than 2 mins and the Packers pull out a win. SMH. GG man, helluva comeback. First thing I will address in the off-season is my defensive personnel.

Yep. I know that was a tough loss especially missing the onside recovery. Hope to meet in the playoffs.

Cowboys finally find goal line, wallop bears in process

The Cowboys have not gotten off to the type of start they hoped to. In a year full of super bowl anticipations they've just seen disappointment after disappointment. First shlackings by the Giants and Seahawks and then an ugly ugly win vs Tampa. "It just seems like we are losing on key plays, and not just key plays, but like every single key play" said The Rock after the tough win over the Bucs last Sunday. Well this week against the Bears it looked as if they won on every single key play. In the first half it looked like we were seeing the same ole Cowboys, playing good defense and moving the ball fine in between the 20's but just stalling as soon as they got close. However in the second quarter Romo would connect with Miles Austin for the Cowboys first TD. Romo would go on to pass 20 for 29 291 yards 2 TD's, Ware had 7 tackles 2 sacks, the Cowboys would add 2 interceptions for touchdowns and would actually score touchdowns on 4 straight possessions after going without a TD the whole season. "Lights just went off in our heads, was just an adjustment period getting used to the new rules, but we figured it out and we know what we are doing now".

Cowboys 2-2 have a week to rest up and then week 6 vs the Ravens will be a big game for this team.

Struggling Eagles Frustration's Continue in Pittsburgh
On this sunday after noon game The Eagles came into Pittsburgh looking to knock off one of the only undefeated teams left in the NFL. That did not happen. Pittsburgh rode Rashard Mendenhall to a 35-14 victory over Philadelphia. Mendenhall had a career best 243 yards on the ground and led the way for Pittsburghs rookie Chris Rainey to come up with 75 yards rushing. The game started out slow with offense on both sides, but Pittsburghs rushing attack finally broke the Eagles down and there was nothing that Philadelphia could do about it. Once Pittsburgh had a big lead they ran the clock down and thus ran the ball right down the Eagles throat. Micheal Vick struggled during the game against the Steelers defense and threw 4 interceptions all of which resulted in points for the other side. The Eagles will find out very quickly that you can't turn the ball over four times and hope to win in this league. The Eagles play the undefeated Lions next week and with the Lions offensive attack, Philly needs to bring their A game if they hope to win. Against the Steelers they brought their "D" game and eventually paid the price. The Eagles dropped to 2-3 and are tied for last place in the NFC East.

Chris Rainey had a breakout game for the rookies this week amassing 75 yards on the ground.
