    Week 4

The undefeated Vikings would travel to Maryland to playing the also undefeated 3-0 Redskins. The game would started off strong for the Skins would would use a 76 bomb to Devin Thomas to get the ball inside the Vikings' 10 yard line. Portis would rumble in from 3 yards for the 7-0 lead.

The Vikings would have a nice drive of their own to follow, but would et stopped on third down and would kick a 47 yard field goal to get the lead down to 7-3. The Skins would get a short field following the kickoff thanks to Santana Moss (newly moved to the return squad), and a few rushing plays later Portis would get his second touchdown the 14-3 lead.

The Vikings would once again get another nice drive, but Nick Folk would miss a 47 yard kick. However, on the very next play Campbell would be sacked and fumble, giving the Vikings an excellent chance to get a score. Unfortunately Rod Hood would intercept Quinn. Three plays later, Portis would get his third touchdown of the game on a 44 yard stretch play.

The Skins would sack Quinn twice on the next drive and after a 23 yard punt return by Moss, Bradshaw would take the ball up the gut, break three tackles and score from 32 yards out for the 28-3 lead. The rout was on.

The Vikings would get a field goal with three minutes left in the half, but the Skins wanting to end the day early, would get a 54 yard strike from Campbell to Randle El with under two minutes to go for the 35-6 lead at the half.

The second half would see a lot of up the gut rushing by the Skins and some turnovers by the Vikings as they would be passing the entire half.

    final 41-12

A thrashing by the Skins. Called a great game and took advantage of Viking turnovers and total lack of execution. Kudos Kan.

Hope to have a chance at redemption later in the year. Until then good luck on the season - especially any games againt NFCN opponents.

    Wk 4 Giants @ Jaguars

This game lived up to the hype as both GM's had been anticipating this game all week. The Giants rolled over the Texans last week big and the Jaguars beat their division rival Titans. Both teams were 2-1 and very familiar with each others strength. The Jags had to stop HB B.Jacobs and the Giants had to control HB M.Jones-Drew. Who would succeed?

In the first quarter both teams would move the ball fairly well and both would suffer turnovers. The Giants tried to force the ball over the middle but MLB Durant would pick off Manning and set the Jags up around midfield. The Jags would run and pass the ball inside the Giants redzone threatening to score. Jags QB James would call a PA pass and look for his TE in the back of the endzone but CB Webster would be sitting back in a zone and pick off the pass, returning it 101yds for a TD to give the Giants a 7-0 lead. The Jags had a chance to get on the board but missed a 36yd FG and the score remained 7-0 after one quarter.

In the second quarter the Giants front seven was just too much for the Jags to handle. The Giants kept the pressure on and forced a couple of turnovers giving them good field position at the Jags end of the field. Manning would hit TE Winslow for a TD with about 2 mins remaining in the half and then they would add a FG to make it 17-0 Giants at halftime.

The third quarter saw some signs of life from the Jags as the defense would stop the Giants from mounting any drives and also get another turnover. This time the Jags would capitalize as QB James would hit WR Coleman for a 73yd TD pass to make it 17-7 heading into the fourth quarter.

After a combined 24 points were scored through three quarters, the scoreboard lit up in the fourth with both teams combining for a total of 31 points in the quarter. The Giants struck first as Manning hit Nicks for an 18yd TD making it 24-7. The Jags came right back moving the ball downfield through the air to set up HB Jones-Drew for a 1yd TD run to make it 24-14 Giants. The Giants weren't about to give the game away so they came back with Jacobs for a 1yd TD run to make it 31-14 New York. The Giants would tack on a FG a few minutes later to make it 34-14 with less than a minute to play. The Jags wouldn't give up and James hit WR Sims-Walker for a 18yd TD to make it 34-21. An onside kick by the Jags would fail and the Giants would run out the clock. Final score in this one Giants 34, Jaguars 21.

    Denver

    L J Squeezed ... OUT!

The Denver Bronco's opened up their second season under coach Ross with a slim 34-20 victory over the seemingly sluggish Seahawk's, but lost newly acquired RB Larry Johnson with a deep abdominal tear in the process.

"We've lost a huge chunk of our new offense" quipped coach Ross after the win. "Needless to say with the Raiders and Titans up before a bye week we need to re-evaluate our game plan".

Johnson, who finished with 122 yards and a score, was gashing the Seahawk's until midway through the second quarter when he left the game with a sore midsection. The coaching staff ignored Johnson's concerns and pushed him back into action to start the third. It would prove to be a costly move for the Bronco's as Johnson carried for another 8 yard gain and left the game for good with a torn abdominal wall.

"Heck, we were lucky to win this game and lucky we only lost Larry", said Champ Bailey after the victory. "Matt went down, Correll had to rest and Robbie (Robert Ayers) is still hurting, but managed to play a hell of a game".

In fact Robert Ayers took another step towards replacing the leadership role thought lost in the trade with Kansas City in the offseason. Ayers made 6 solo stops, picked up a sack and intercepted Matt Hasselbeck late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Bronco's. The anchor off the Bronco defense is listed as day to day with abdominal strain but claimed he felt no ill effects despite being sidelined for 2 quarters. "It's all good" smiled Ayers after the win. "I took a shot in the gut from James, that guy is a load, but I'm fine".

The win moves Denver to 4-0 and sets the table for another rivalry game between the hated Raiders next week. "Look, you'd have to be on life support to not notice the ill feelings between us and the Raiders" said Brian Dawkins. "We'll line it up, who can play will play and we'll smash each other in the face. In the end it will all come down to who wants it more in week 5, it's a long season and the last time I checked a week 5 win hasn't ever won anyone, anything".

    Game Notes:

Cassel went 20/30 for 231 yards 1 TD and 2 INTS
L.J. left in the third quarter with 122 yards and major, while E. James added 114 and a score for the Seahawks ....

GG CPU ... thanks playing your injury cards all game ;) .... Cassel left twice ... Ayers was out, LJ left twice and then for good .. it was crazy ...

Aren't we supposed to have human subs in for CPU teams? Or is that the players option???

In a surprising start to the Panthers schedule, Coach Gotham would get a second shot at the Falcons early in the season. In Week 2, the Falcons would edge past the Panthers, 41-34 under the coaching of a sub (jcquick). In that game, QB Matt Ryan had a career day with 333yds, and 1 TD. Meanwhile, Atlanta HB Michael Turner had 106yds on the ground and 3 TDs.

"It's payback time", Coach Gotham was heard muttering on the sidelines just before kickoff.

Carolina started with the ball and worked their way downfield, but would have to settle for a FG, and the early 3-0 lead. Following a 3-and-out, the Panthers would again get the ball deep into enemy territory, only to have Vince Young throw his 8th interception of the season. Then, in a bizarre twist of fate, Matt Ryan would throw an interception right back to DB Chris Gamble. DeAngelo Williams would punch it in from 3-yards for a 10-0 lead.

Atlanta would drive downfield, only to get stopped on 3rd and short, forcing a Jason Elam field goal to put the visitors on the board, 10-3.

Following the kickoff, and a decent return by Y. Figurs, Vince Young would hit Williams in the flats for a 58yd HB screen touchdown. It was a thing of beauty watching Williams stiff-arm one defender, and then shrug off two other tackles near the goal line. Unfortunately the highlight generator didn't save this properly. Up 17-3, Carolina's defense continued to dominate, with Everette Brown putting constant pressure on Matt Ryan all day. Late in the half, DB Fakhir Brown would pick off Ryan and setup an 11yd touchdown catch by rookie WR Steve Lucious. 24-3 at the half.

With the game out of reach, Ernest Graham and Mike Goodson started splitting time at half-back for the Panthers. Graham would get carried off the field shortly after on a golf-cart with a hip pointer injury. He is still listed as questionable for next week. The Panthers would add a field goal, and Williams would score his 3rd touchdown of the game.

    Final Score
    Atlanta 3
    Carolina 34

This game was all about the Panthers defense, which seems to have found its' stride. QB Matt Ryan finished the game with a 9.3 QB rating, including 3 interceptions. HB Turner would be held to 38 yards on 9 carries. Atlanta was unable to convert any third-down (out of 9) attempts. After the game, Coach Rich of the Falcons was outraged, pulling out clumps of his hair, screaming, "If I EVER learn how to pass I might be in a game or 2. GL rest of the way". He was later found huddled in the fetal position in the lockerroom, in a state of shock.

    Notables
    ---------

Atlanta Falcons rookie DT Patrick Lopez finished the game with 6 tackles, including 5 for a loss.

Carolina Panthers QB Vince Young who was 9/17, 88yds with 4 interceptions and 0 touchdowns in Week 3 versus Seattle, finished todays game 7/12, 272yds with 1 interception and 2 touchdowns.

Coach Rich was later seen picking up his clumps of Hair and going to the Hospital for what the team said is a rise in his Blood Pressure . Again GG Gotham ( Nice write up ! could have done without letting everyone know about the fetal potition though LOL )

    Green Bay 41 Chicago 17

The Packers beat up on the Bears in Lambeau Field, as the defense has a stellar game and the offense takes care off business. Aaron Rodgers has a decent throwing for 236 yds and a TD, but a couple of late 1st half INT's made the game interesting as 1 led to The Bears 1st TD and when the Pack was driving late in the 2nd quarter Graham returned Rodgers 2nd Int to the house with a nice 86 yd INT return for a TD. The Packers went into the half with a 17-14 lead. After that Green Bay pretty much dominated the game outscoring the Bears 24-3 in the second half. Rookie QB English is looking like hes going to be a good one as well as having a strong arm has good mobility and able to throw on the run with pretty good accuracy. Not to be out done WR rookie Jerry Manning had another great game in the KR department as he had over 200 yds including a 95 yd KR for a TD and Rookie HB Leron James had 69 yds rushing and 2 TD's.

Any clarification on this. All teams should be playing human opponents IMO. Plenty of owners willing to sub in for the CPU teams, and no team should get easy wins against CPU opponents IMO.

    49ers - Cowboys

The Cowboys would host a struggling 49ers team in week 4. The Boys would get on the board first with a Fg in the 1st qtr. In the 2nd qtr the Romo and Berrian would hook up twice for Td's. The first coming from 12 yds out and the 2nd being a 58 yd strike for a Td to give the Cowboys a 17-0 lead at halftime. In the 2nd half things would start off bad for the 49ers when they would fumble the ball and let the Cowboys recover. The Cowboys would drive all the way down to the 49ers 1 yd line. Romo would turn around and hand the ball off to Fb Anderson just to have him give the ball right back to the 49ers with a fumble at the 1 foot line. The 49ers would bring in backup QB Orton because Hill was struggling the entire first half. Orton would promptly hit Te Davis for a whooping 99 yd Td pass to try to get the 49ers back into the game. The only problem would be the 49ers defense who really couldn't stop the Cowboys offense on a regular basis. Romo would look to give the ball to the closer. The Barbian would be up for the challenge with a 35 yd tackle breaking Td run to put the Cowboys lead back to 17 points 24-7 to close out the 3rd qtr. After another long run by Barber in the 4th the Cowboys would seal the game with a 3 yd run by rookie Rb Keller. However the 49ers would score once again on a 18 yd pass from Orton to Wr Hill to get back within 17 pts midway through the 4th qtr. That would end all scoring as the Cowboys offense would run most of the clock out from there.

    Cowboys win 31-14

Colts would host the Raiders and by my surprise....the Colts played one hell of a game against a very touch Raiders team. Really not much of offense by either team as both defense played very good.

Colts mixed up the running game just enough to keep the Raiders a little off balance. Rookie RB Simpson scored 2tds and CB Heydon inted a pass as the Colts would get a win. GG Savaunte gl with your team bud.

Looking for their first win of the season, the Jets hosted long-time rival Anj and the New England Patriots. It was a typical, defensive battle that needed a 5th quarter to decide the winner.

The Jets would start the scoring with a 5 yard TD pass from Mark Sanchez to Leon Washington.

The Pats would tie the score as time expired in the first half giving them momentum heading into the second half.

The Jets would take the lead 14-7 in the 3rd quarter, but once again, the Pats would tie it late in the final frame to force OT.

The Pats won the toss in OT, but NY quickly forced a punt. On a key 3rd and long, Mark Sanchez hooked up with rookie WR Jamarion Bellows on a 25 yard reception; moving NY into FG range. But hoping to get a little closer for shaky FG kicker Jay Feely, Sanchez connected with Jericho Cotchery moving NY inside the 10. On the next play, hoping to set up Feely in the center of the field, it was Shonn Greene breaking a few tackles and plunging into the endzone to give NY the 20-14 win.

Great game Anj. Welcome back. Excellent D.

    Texans defeat Eagles 17-7

In a sloppy game where both Quarterbacks threw 1 TD and 3 INT's the Texans managed to pull off a ten point Victory. Steve Slaton Rushed 20 times for 79 yards and a TD and caught 4 passes for 108 yards and another score. 1st round draft pick and starting SS Rashad Henderson was the player of the game recording 3 tackles 2 Interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries. Mario Wlliams, Amobi Okoye and Connor Barwin each recorded a sack.

The Eagles played tuff from start to finish and until late in the 4th quarter it was anyone's game. McNabb was 10-18 for 147 yards 1 TD 3 INT's, Brian Westbrook and McCoy rushed for a combined 117 yards and Tight End Celek made some big plays bringing in 4 passes for 55 yards and a TD.

    Good Game Stykman.

The Chargers traveled to Tennessee to play a Titans team looking to turn things around. After scoring a FG on their opening drive, the Titans gave up the lead early in the 2nd quarter. 7-3 SD. Tennessee kept keeping on and eventually took the lead on a Td run by Chris Johnson. After a quick 3 n out the Titans got the ball back and got right to their 2 minute offense. A minute and a half later Jake Scott connected with Kenny Britt in the endzone for a TD and a 17-7 lead at the half.

    2nd half-----------------------------------

The Titans kept having little nagging injuries with C.J. aka Sonic the Hedgehog that seriously affected the offense. Well at least it did in our first 3 games, but this time around Lendale White(the guy nobody wants to trade for) and second year back Javon Ringer both chipped in with quality plays. Ringer actually punched the ball in from 11 yards out closing out the 3rd quarter and it was 24-7 Titans. The next lesson learned for this team was that you have to play four quarters! The Chargers came storming back. Showing plenty of patience they went down and scored a TD to cut the gap to 24-14. About 3 mins to go and they kick the ball deep. The Titans offense sorta did their job. They moved the ball up field on a few long plays and wound up kicking a long Fg to make the score 27-14. The Chargers again drove right back down the field seemingly finding a rythm in the final quarter. Touchdown to their rookie all everything receiver Taurean Barclay. 27-21. With only 1 minute left at this point the game came down to an onside kick which the Titans recovered. Final score Tennessee 27- SD 21.

GG Luis. nice comeback attempt and good luck the rest of the way through.
