    #2 Clemson - 69
    Boston College - 0

Clemson dominates in its home opener 69-0. The Tiger offense racked up 504 yards rushing, thanks in part to a big first half by HB Roderick McDowell. On defense, Clemson's defensive line manhandled Boston College and left the Eagles with no room to run and with little time to pass. Next up for Clemson are those pesky Demon Deacons from Wake Forest.

    Stats - Clemson

    QB Tajh Boyd - 7/8 - 122 Yards (57 Yards Rushing - 2 TDs)
    HB Roderick McDowell - 22 Attempts - 233 Yards - 4 TDs
    HB Tavares Williams - 14 Attempts - 100 Yards - 2 TDs
    DE Malliciah Goodman - 7 Tackles - 1 Sack
    DT Terrell Hampton - 6 Tackles - 1 Sack
    DT Ben Turner - 6 Tackles - 1 Sack
    DE Spencer Shuey - 5 Tackles - 2 Sacks
CB Marvin Campbell - 2 Interceptions

This is the kind of offensive performance we have been looking for. Alex McCarron finally began to show that he could step in and handle the starting job. He finished the game with a 187.2 passer rating going 13/23 240 yards and 3 TD . Trent Richardson continued his productive season with 23 carries for 170 yards and 2 TD.

We had this game locked up early and decided to put the 2nd string in late in the 3rd quarter. Backup HB Mark Roberson was excited to finally get some carries but got hurt after his third carry. He will be out 4 weeks with a strained shoulder.

Prior to the game it was learn that 4 star recruit FS Nathan Coleman had committed to Alabama. He should be a nice addition to a young secondary.

We had 2 other recruits attend the game. Hopefully we can lock them up soon as well.

    3 star DE CJ Davis 6'6 236
4 star G Erik Romero 6'2 365(we may have to slip him a new car to keep him away from Florida)

We had planned to have another recruit at the game, but he got mad and hung up the phone before we could invite him.

Maryland won the opening coin toss which turns out to be the only catagory they won this week as Wake Forest completely dominated them on the field. Allowing the opening drive to result in a FG that would be all the points Maryland would get.

Wakes rushing game once again could not be stopped, Freshman HB J. Williams rushed for 249 yards on 30 attempts for an 8.3 average scoring 3 TDs, breaking out 2 50+ yarders. Backup HB J. Anderson also had a dominating performance rushing for over 124 yards on 12 attempts scoring 1 TD. Stewart also had a great game throwing 10/15 for 142 yards and 3 TDs.

Defensively the Demon Deacons shut down Maryland for the most part, they were able to get great pressure resulting in 7 sacks on the day. 2 Huge turnovers also helped, one resulting in a TD the other giving great field position for Wake.

Overall Coach Wellar is very satisfied with the big W today at home giving his team confidence going into next weeks tough matchup against Clemson.

Gators Rebound against Hated Rival Volunteers

UF rebounded from their bad loss to UNC last week by winning a close one at home against Tennessee. The Gators won this game in a very unfamiliar fashion as they only allowed one TD all game. And maybe more surprising, the Gators were unbalanced, but not in the pass happy ways of usual.

This was a very close game that really was decided by two plays. In the first half, UT was faced with a 3rd and long situation and their sophomore QB found out what it's like to play in the Swamp. As he dropped back with immense pressure he thought he found his TE open for the first down. However FS Jensen had other plans as he jumped the route and took it to the house for 6.

The other key play came in the 2nd half. With UT looking to close the gap, Florida was faced with a 3rd and 12 in their own end of the field. QB Burton dropped back and recognized one on one coverage on the outside with SR playmaker Debose and let it fly. Debose made a spectacular catch as he came down inbounds for the first down on what might have been a game sealing play.

It was a great game from Tennessee. The INT got them again this year just like last year. It's a big win for the Gators but UT seems to be getting closer to winning this one every year. We'll have to see how things go next season. For now though, the Gators are undefeated in the SEC and the game with Georgia looms large on their schedule.

The price of victory, QB Trey Burton goes down with a broken thumb and will be out 4-6 weeks. True freshman QB Mark Price will get his first shot at the starter role next week with RS FS Anthony Johnson waiting in the wings.

    Heels Survive the Wolfpack, 31-17

UNC held on to win against 0-3 NC State. The Wolfpack defense played exceptionally well Sacking Renner 5 times and picking him off 3. Luckily stud HB Dallas Kirk put the offense on his shoulders. NC State came back to bring the score to 24-17 with 3 minutes remaining. Starting QB Renner had been pulled by coach Jello for being cold after throwing his 3rd pick of the game. This left the game in the hands of true FR QB Brett Payne, but luckily he didn't have to throw a single pass. Kirk, who had already rushed for 114 yards would lead the Heels on a 63 yard TD drive in which Kirk gained 62 yards on the ground and the TD that put the pack away. Overall Kirk rushed for 175 yards and 2 TDs.

Outside of Kirk, SR WR Jheranie Boyd caught his first TD pass of the season and JR TE Tony Hunter had a beautiful 83 yard TD catch and run and tallied 124 receiving yards. Defensively JR SS Anthony Copeland was flying all over the field as he amassed 15 tackles.

Next up for the Heels a bye week in the middle of 4 straight road games.
