MOSCOW - It's a place that strikes fear in the hearts of college football players, fans, and coaches across the nation. It is, the Kibbie Dome. Or as freshman standout defensive end Tom Merrill puts it, "It's like the Bermuda Triangle of college football. Sometimes you can't explain it. That's one of the reasons I wanted to come here. Up until I committed, and then even for the next few weeks after I committed to be a Vandal, the Utah State coaching staff kept calling me, pleading, begging me to be an Aggie. But I told him they just couldn't match the Vandal Voodoo."

That's not Voodoo Tom; it's Potato Magic. And it was in full effect Saturday night as the Vandals hosted #22 ranked division rival Utah State (3-2, 0-2). The Aggies, coming off a heartbreaking last second loss last week at the hands of Western Kentucky, looked to get back on track against the undefeated Vandals.

The game was full of offensive firepower for both sides, as the teams combined for 1165 offensive yards and 108 points. But in the end, it was the Vandals that were leading, 56-52, when the last second ticked away.

After a strong start, the Vandal defense surrendered 10 points in the final 1:30 of the first half, and found themselves kicking off to the Aggies down 24-21. Like DirtyCashDylan at an all-male revue, the defense stiffened and rose to the occassion. Utah State QB A. Sapp threw two incomplete passes and was sacked by Tom Merrill for a 3-and-out. That would prove to be the last time a drive didn't end in the touchdown for either team. For the rest of the second half, the offenses looked indefensible, and the defenses were atrocious. The teams traded blows like two heavyweight fighters, and when H. Davis put the Aggies up by 3 with just 1:24 left in the game, all eyes were on senior standout quarterback Bryan Sixmore. Sixmore, who threw his first interception of the season (and the only Vandal giveaway) earlier in the game, showed why he's a preseason All-American, as he led the Vandal offense into scoring position quickly. Needing only a field goal to tie, the Vandals wanted to try their luck at winning. The decision almost came back to bite them as Sixmore was sacked trying to evade pressure on 1st and goal from the 8. After an incomplete pass on 2nd down, Sixmore found fellow All-American Zach Berry alone in the endzone. Berry, who had a career day with 9 catches for 162 yards and 4 touchdowns, caught the ball with just 6 seconds left. The extra point put the Vandals up by 4. After a squib kick and an unanswered hail mary, the Vandals emerged victorious, 56-52.

The Vandals (4-0, 2-0) welcome undefeated Arkansas State to the Kibbie Dome next week.
The Aggies (3-2, 0-2) don't have time to sulk, as CUSA powerhouse Western Michigan comes to the land of polygamy next week.

Red Wolves start season 4-0 with close win in Atlanta

This game was pretty close, but whenever you play GT it should be a close one because all they do is run. I needed a pretty decent comeback in the 4th quarter to pull this one out, but my guys responded down 17-7. I scored first, and was up late in the 2nd quarter before they got a TD before half, then scored first in the 3rd quarter to go up 10. But a huge 69 yard touchdown pass then another 13 yard touchdown pass both to TE Roosevelt Patrick put me up 20-17. My defense came up huge and stuffed their run in the 4th, and my offense was able to run the ball and chew the clock.

Hicks ran for 135 on 28 carries with a TD one week after dropping 375 on ULM. QB Jimmy Bell was inaccurate, but connected on some big passes, going 12/27 for 213 yards and 2TD, more importantly 0INT. Roosevelt Fitzpatrick had 6 catches for 152 yards and 2TD

It was a defensive battle in Ypsilanti where a few big passing plays to Cory May made the difference for the Broncos. May had 4 catches for 189 yards with scores of 85 and 56 in the first half. The ground game was contained by Eastern Michigan's defense as Tevin Drake was the only effective runner but left the game in the 2nd quarter and did not return. Former Western Michigan RB and current Eastern Michigan traitor Dareyon Chance ran the ball 20 times for 99 yards with a 40 yard TD run.
Eastern Michigan scored with 1:10 left in the game and 2 TO's to narrow the gap to 27-21. They failed to recover the onside kick and Western Michigan punted it to the Eastern Michigan 11 with :11 seconds to go. Two deep pass attempts were unsuccessful and Western Michigan held on to make it five in a row against EMU and 3 straight on the road.
