Since the 2012 season a road team has not won a game (played) between the NFC South rivals Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints. The Panthers put an end to that streak as they went into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and defeated the Saints 34-14.

The Pamthers defense continues to drive this team, as they forced two turnovers and held the Saints offense scoreless until late in the 4th quarter. New Orleans quarterback Daniel Zagzebski was intercepted once in the game, to bring his total to 4 on the season, all of which have been against the Panthers D. The Saints lost 3rd year halfback Manasee James to a shoulder injury late in the game, and initial reports have him out of action for up to a month.

The Panthers offense got it done on the ground in this one as halfback Kian Minor ran for 83 yards and 2 scores, and quarterback Cam Newton added 98 yards on the ground and 2 scores of his own. The bulk of Newton's yards came on a 76 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter that caught the Saints defense completely by surprise.
