Rebels Hang Tough, Fall to Defending National Champs
Ole Miss traveled to Tuscaloosa this week for their 2012 conference opener, but return home with bruises and a humbling defeat. One week after dominating at Tulane, the Rebel offense was pretty much manhandled by a stout Alabama defense. Despite that, Ole Miss only trailed by one score heading into the 4th Quarter but they could not get any closer, losing 17 - 6. The Tide's front seven thoroughly dominated the Rebels' O-Line, and forced seven sacks and held Halfback Jeff Scott to 16 yards on the ground. On a good note, the Ole Miss defense performed fairly well holding Alabama to 41 rushing yards and picking off Quarterback AJ McCarron twice. Next week, the Rebels prepare to welcome Texas A&M to the SEC.

Aggies Upset Rivals In College Station
A&M took the field against their old time rivals for the first time as an SEC conference game. The Hogs started off fast getting deep in to A&M territory before throwing and interception. However, The Ags would suffer an INT of their own trying to take advantage of the turnover on their first play. The Hogs would then score first and take a 14 to 10 lead into the half. They then expanded their lead 21 to 10 in the Third after stopping the Ags first drive. The A&M defense bowed up and made some big stops and A&M capitalized off a Jamielle showers pass to Lamothe for a 17 yard TD and a impressive 51 yard TD scamper by Christine Michael. Michael would go on to score one more TD finishing the night with 140 YRDS on 30 Carries with 2 TDs. The Hogs came close, getting the most value out of the fans tickets. ARK got a late TD with 3 minutes left in the game, but A&M put together a decent drive getting a couple of first downs and draining the clock to under 45 seconds. The defense held on and deflected a last second hail mary in the endzone to seal up the victory. Play of the Game -

The Tar Heels offense and defense were absolutely dominant this week. QB Bryn Renner continued his hot streak, with a career high five touchdown passes, four of which went to his big threat target WR Erik Highsmith, who also had a big day with 111 yards receiving. On defense, Carolina is likely to climb even higher in the national rankings, as they held yet another opponent to under 200 yards of total offense, and earned their first shutout of the 2012 season.

After getting through the soft opening schedule unscathed, the Tar Heels begin the meat and potatoes of the season, as the #11 ranked Hokies of Virginia Tech come in to Keenan Stadium, also undefeated, in a clash of the top two teams in the ACC Coastal division.
