Rebels Hang Tough, Fall to Defending National Champs Ole Miss traveled to Tuscaloosa this week for their 2012 conference opener, but return home with bruises and a humbling defeat. One week after dominating at Tulane, the Rebel offense was pretty much manhandled by a stout Alabama defense. Despite that, Ole Miss only trailed by one score heading into the 4th Quarter but they could not get any closer, losing 17 - 6. The Tide's front seven thoroughly dominated the Rebels' O-Line, and forced seven sacks and held Halfback Jeff Scott to 16 yards on the ground. On a good note, the Ole Miss defense performed fairly well holding Alabama to 41 rushing yards and picking off Quarterback AJ McCarron twice. Next week, the Rebels prepare to welcome Texas A&M to the SEC.
