Kent State came into its game with San Jose State battling the injury bug. Kent appeared to finally be getting healthy as senior impact running back Akise Teague returning after being injured during the Flashes week 2 loss to Arizona State. It's funny how the football Gods have a sense of humor.

Like two heavyweight fighters, the Flashes and Spartans were trading blows throughout a defensive battle in the first half. The Flashes senior quarterback Jordan Tarver would suffer a concussion and was sent to the locker room never to return. "I honestly thought we still had a good chance to win because we had Akise." Flashes coach Andrew Profio said. Well Teague would get injured as well and would never return to the game. The Flashes would also lose slot receiver Justin Harrell for the game when he was hit hard over the middle.

The Flashes stood tall during a goal line stand which ended with true freshman Stanford Holt intercepting a Kevin Butler pass.

The Spartans would not score until nine seconds before halftime when Butler found Sean Hollis for a 5 yard touchdown.

Throughout the second half, the defenses kept the intensity up and the hitting hard. San Jose State kicker Jason Thomas would make the score 10-0 when he converted a 37 yard field goal. San Jose State would pick off Flashes backup quarterback Evan Shimensky to end a Flashes drive. The Flashes would finally get on the board with 3:34 remaining when Shimensky found Josh Barber for a 19 yard touchdown strike. SJSU would put the game out of reach with a Thomas 31 yard field goal, which brought the final tally to 13-7.

"It's frustrating to keep getting bit by the injury bug. Here we are sitting at 1-3 but we have been in every single game. Lost to ASU by 18, Illinois by 4, and now this game by 6. it's damn frustrating. But we hope to get healthy for the MAC part of our schedule, we can still make it to a bowl game and the MAC championship." Profio said after the game.

Hopped on to do the recap and Pro already took care of it. My two cents...

Great game by both teams. BS injuries plagued both teams. Kent St. for the game with his qb going out early 1st quarter. I knew two other guys were out for the game, but didn't know it was your RB and to top it off a WR. Basically playing against 2nd string offense.

The Spartans also had multiple injuries in the game, but none bigger than "#1 WR if you can call him that the way he was playing this year" KC Pearce breaking his collarbone and being out for the season. The game was really a 10-7 game as I chipped in a really late FG. It was 7-7 and I could tell Pro pushed the hike button which obviously didn't work since he pushed it again and the old hike and throw to X happened to give me the ball in FG position to go up 10-7. All in all a very competitive game. Hat's off to you and your program broski.

    LSU D Stifles #8 Georgia

For the second straight week, LSU easily disposed of a ranked SEC opponent. This time they beat UGA 34-7. UGa's only points came off of a kickoff return for a touchdown. UGa did not even cross the LSU 35 all game. The Tiger D picked off 2 passes and picked up 8 sacks, holding UGa to 101 yards of offense.

The Tiger offense was flawless grinding out nearly 500 yards of offense. QB Lorenzo Anderson went 16-19 for 307 and 3 tds with 0 ints before giving way to the backup QB and handoff specialist in the third quarter. The balanced rushing attack picked up 200 yards with Lynch and Hilliard splitting carries.

In their first three games, LSU has picked off 11 passes and is +10 in the turnover department. It looks like LSU will compete for the SEC title and maybe more.

Shockingly, LSU has yet another bye before heading to Gainesville to take on the Gators in another SEC matchup.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers might not put up a whole ton of offensive yards (avg 300/game), but they DO have a 59OVR FS who has 5 interceptions through 3 games! (You know what they say, sometimes you just don't know how they are gonna play until you give them a chance.)

In addition, this team is built around balance (582 passyds, 357rushyds, 5pass TDs, 5 rushTDs), a downright nasty rushing defense (having allowed 9yds of rushing through 3 games), a absolutely horrendous pass defense (2nd to last in nation), and but yet a great propensity for creating the turnover (8INTs and 1 Fumble recovery in 3 games) to go with a perfect Red Zone rating at 100% (8TDs, 4FGs).

In summary, the Hilltoppers are both terrible and terribly fun to coach.

In our last game, we got off to a hot start with a rare (felt so good) 80yd QB keeper on an I-Form option run and then were able to tack on a field goal after FS Pratt's 1st interception of 2 in the game. Mid Tenn St never recovered.

Tennessee keeps winning despite a horrible game by there all-american QB throwing 3 picks. My kicker missed yet another extra point but lucky for me i converted a two point conversion in the forth to put me up for good 24-17. After the bye I go to Georgia next should be another tough game.

    Unbelievable Game in Mount Pleasant!

EMU keeps its perfect record intact in a game which saw the football go up and down the field for both teams. With a total of 992 yards offense for both teams it took triple overtime for Eastern Michigan to win it.

With 25 seconds to go in the game I tied the game up and needed an extra point to win it. My freshman kicker felt the pressure and did his best Billy Cundiff impression. And then overtime we go. After a missed field goal by both teams in the first overtime and then a touchdown by both teams in the second overtime. EMU scored again on a beautiful over the shoulder catch by the TE Vince Salyer down the seem. And a funny way to end the game was a defensive stand by the Eagles to hold the Chippewas to zero points in the third overtime to win it.
