This week pits the #21 South Carolina Gamecocks at home vs. the #5 Georgia Bulldogs. This is a monumental game for both of these teams. Georgia looks to remain undefeated and gain some separation from Florida before their week 9 matchup and South Carolina looks to not lose another game, which if they do could set them far enough back to were they wouldn't have a shot of winning the SEC East.

In this matchup look for the Gamecocks to utilize their feature back, Marcus Lattimore. Lattimore leads the nation in rushing yards with 829. He is a very versatile back and some say he is the best back in college football at the moment. On the other side of the ball Georgia will utilize their own shifty back, Ken Malcome. Malcome has something to prove this week. Only being a redshirt SO and having the third highest amount of rushing TD's in college football is propelling many NFL scouts to look his way. He should have a decent day rushing the ball. As far as Murray goes, he just has to try and not screw it up, plain and simple. This is Murray's first big game of this season so we will see if he rises to the occasion or falls deeper into last years sophomore slump. Today is the day so many questions will be answered for both of these teams. Look for this to be a very close game.

This week is a battle of the unbeatens as the Virginia Tech Hokies travel to Chapel Hill to take North Carolina Tar Heels. The Hokies are coming off their offensive (in the bad way) performance against Cincy in which they won 7 to 6. Coach Ransom said a couple of weeks ago that the offense needed to step up in order to get where they want to go and they responded with their worst offensive showing of the year. Ball security was the focus going into the game against the Tar Heels as North Carolina comes in with a +7 turnover margin which is 5th in the nation.

Also two strengths collide as the number 1 total defense in the nation meets the number 9 total offense in the nation. The Tar Heels will be without their star running back Giovani Benard and left tackle James Hurst. "The defense is up for the challenge and they will be ready" says Coach Ransom. Should be a good one down in Tobacco Road.

    #11 Michigan @ Purdue

The Wolverines look to rebound from last week's OT loss as they take on the Boilermakers in West Lafayette. This match-up marks the beginning of the Big Ten schedule for Michigan. Quarterback Denard Robinson hopes to continue running the ball well, but knows he needs to improve on his passing if he wants to lead U of M to victory. Defensively, Michigan has embraced a "bend, don't break" mantra, and has played well enough to keep them in games. However, they must force more turnovers if they wish to be successful in the Big Ten. Although Purdue isn't a Big Ten Powerhouse by any means, Big Blue will not take them lightly and expects to come out of gates with maximum intensity.

Some are already dubbing this, "Game of The Year!"

The Georgia Bulldogs went into the locker room trailing 31-7. Murray had thrown 3 ints in the first half and no touchdowns. Their only score came from a 100 yrd KR by Tavarres King. Few people believed that Georgia would even come back to trail by 10 in the second half.

Murray came out gunslinging in the second half. The Dawgs outscored South Carolina 28-14 in the third quarter. What was once a 24 point lead was cut to 10 going into the 4th quarter. Murray was on fire. Driving the ball down the field drive after drive. Georgia's defense stepped up, but still allowed for the big play down field. When the 4th quarter began Georgia had the ball in the redzone. Murray dropped back to pass and delivered a strike to WR Michael Bennett for a 17 yrd TD. This cut the once 24 point lead to 3. Georgia would get a HUGE stop defensively against an offense that had abused for most of the game. Murray drove the ball down the field once more and with a little over a minute left Georgia kicked the tying field goal, 45-45 all. South Carolina got the ball back with 1:15 left in the game and 2 timeouts. They drove the ball down the field using no huddle for most of the drive. With :20 left Connor Shaw delivered a TD strike toWR Shaq Roland for 23 yards.

Georgia had the ball with :16 seconds left and one chance to tie the game. Murray dropped back and threw a deep ball to Marlon Brown who dropped the wide open pass that would have put Georgia in range for one last, manageable throw to the endzone. Murray had one play left with :10 on the clock. Snapped the ball dropped back and was sacked! Game over! A second half comeback that almost was completed. What a game!

IRISH RUN ALL OVER HURRICANES IN STATEMENT WIN

Notre Dame needed to make a statement this week. Coming off a bye week after a big OT win over rival Michigan, the Irish made a splash by signing three of the top recruits in the country. With four more big time recruits headed to South Bend this week, all eyes were on QB Everett Golson making his first career start for the Irish.

Golson dazzled in his debut, gashing the Miami defense for 175 rush yards and a TD on the way to an easy 35-17 victory over the Hurricanes. Golson also completed 64% of his passes for 134 yards and two scores, including a 34-yard strike to RB Cierre Wood that put the Irish up for good in the third quarter.

Wood was the star after carrying the ball 23 times for 187 yards and two scores to go along with his TD catch. Altogether the Irish pounded the Miami defense for 399 yards on the ground.

The defense was sound on all fronts again for the Irish, holding the Hurricanes to just 17 points on 12 first downs and 304 total yards of offense.

The Irish are looking forward to a few commitments this week as they prepare to host struggling rival Stanford next week in South Bend.

OSU Sends Message with Primetime Route

Many questioned how long it would take for Urban Meyer's Buckeyes to contend for a National Championship. The answer appears to be now. With some of the nation's top recruits in attendance, OSU cruised past a struggling Nebraska squad 34-0 Saturday night in Ohio Stadium.

There have been quiet grumblings from players around the program concerning OSU's current standing in the top 25. At #14, the undefeated Buckeyes are ranked behind LSU, Michigan and Kansas State, who all have one loss. While it likely doesn't matter, Ohio State will almost certainly be in the national title if they run the table, players are using this "slight" as extra motivation.

The Buckeyes have a four-game stretch against the bottom feeders of the Big 10; Indiana, Purdue, Penn State and Illinois, before heading to Madison to take on the Wisconsin Badgers in what could be the game of the year in the conference.

Going into today's game after the 7-6 win over Cincy, folks doubt if the Va Tech offense can lead them to an ACC or Nat'l Championship. The offense responded with Logan Thomas throwing for 2 long touchdowns in the 1st half and lead the Hokies to a 24 to 10 win over the North Carolina Tar Heels. "Logan doesn't have to win the game on every drive. He just has to be patient and let the game come to him. I think he played well" said Coach Ransom after the game. Logan made two nice and deep throws in the 1st half which led to two touchdowns to Roberts and Coles. Also today the running game was huge today running for 153 yards. The defense gave up its 1st touchdown near the end of 1st half but still played good defense holding their leading rusher to only 30 yards on 17 carries. Today started the part of the schedule in which 3 out 4 were road confernces games and todays win should provide a spark for the team. Next week the Hokies return home to play the Duke Blue Devils at Lane Stadium.

    #10 Wisconsin vs Illinois

Wisconsin looks to improve to 6-0 against the Fighting Illini today. The Badgers defense is coming off a great game against Nebraska only allowing 145 yards of total Offense. Look for the Badgers to attempt to get Montee Ball on a roll to stay undefeated in B1G play.

    #10 WISCONSIN IMPROVES TO 6-0(2-0)

    WISC - 35
    ILL - 7

Wisconsins Defense once again proved they are for real, holding the Fighting Illini to 165 of total Offense. Montee Ball had his best game of the year running the ball 27 times for 189 yards with 2 scores. O'Brien went 7/11 for 105 yards and 2 scores. The defense, led by senior LB Mike Taylor (9 Tkl, 5 Tfl, 1 Sk) created 2 Turnovers and had 7 sacks. Wisconsin looks to continue rolling next week against Purdue.

EDIT: Mike Taylor also blocked a FG

Well Auburn ju,ped out to a 14-0 lead and was looking good till the INT bug got on my QB and he threw one on 4 straight drives and let the Hogs go up 21-14 at the half. 3QT we added a FG and the 4th QT was a burner. We drive down to poke it in with 108 left on the clock but the hogs dont quite, they find a wide open WR for a HUGE 61 yard score going up by 4 with 33 sec left. Auburn had all its TO's and drove down the field to score on a nice pass to the HB for the win with 5 sec left.. WAR EAGLE BABY!! Great Game wayers50 Look forward to theses battles in the future
