Kansas just barely beat Texas at home, and it took some last second heroics by QB Mike Cummings, who had an unusually inaccurate game. Kansas led 28-13 at halftime, but how it happened was remarkable. Up 7-6, KU dialed up a blitz and picked off McCoy right up the middle of the field for a TD. On the next offensive play, MLB Jake Farley picked off McCoy again and scored to go up 21-6. Driving, Cummings threw a pick which was returned by Texas late in the 2nd half which gave them a 21-13 lead. Cummings was able to completed a TD pass as time expired from 45 yards out to go up 28-13. Texas drove the ball all 2nd half, but only seemed to get field goals and it was 28-26 at the end of the 3rd. With a 31-26 lead, Texas had one shot with little time left and somehow scored with 0:47 left on a 39-yard pass to go up 32-31. Cummings, who had 3 picks already, needed to drive down the field to get the win and he did just that. On the 38, Kansas had 1 timeout and 0:18 left so they needed about 5 yards to get in FG range, when Cummings hit Sheppard for a 38-yard catch and run to win the game with 0:10 left. Sheppard came up huge as the #3 WR. After Dexter McDonald left, Sheppard scored twice and caught balls for over 180 yards. The defensive MVP was Jake Farley, who had 13 tackles, a sack, and a pick 6.

Mike Cummings (QB)- 16-36 for 282 yards, 3 TD, 3 INT, 8 carries for 24 yards
Darrian Miller (HB)- 8 carries for 42 yards
Jacorey Sheppard (WR)- 7 receptions for 188 yards, 2 TD
Dexter McDonald (WR)- 4 receptions for 42 yards
Jake Farley (MLB)- 13 tackles, 4 TFL, sack, INT, TD
Chris Robinson (CB)- 4 tackles, TFL, INT, TD

FSU mounts late comeback to beat NC State 31-28
The Seminoles let the Wolfpack get off to an 21-7 lead before briefly taking a lead in the 3rd quarter at 24-21. But NC State retook the lead with 3:31 remaining when WR Reggie Anderson took a short slant pass 66 yards for the touchdown on 3rd and 13 to give the home team a 28-24 lead. But the Seminoles quickly struck back thanks to a nice return by Kevin Johnson and a 43 yard reception by Christian Green. Devonta Freeman who struggled for most of the game took in the go ahead score with 2:40 remaining in the game.
FSU QB Joe Coker really struggled for the first time this season consistently missing open receivers and finished the game going 17/37 for 268 yards with a 1 TD and 2 picks. The defense gave up a lot of yards but also managed to continue their trend of forcing turnovers with 5. The defense was led by LOLB Arrington Jenkins who had forced a fumble which he picked up himself for a 78 yard touchdown, he later added a key interception.

    #10 TCU 48 - SMU 35

The Horned Frogs took the opening kick off to the house and never looked back. 3 interceptions led to 21 more points to close the first quartet 28-7 in favor of TCU. The Frogs went conservative with the big early lead, and the visiting Mustangs actually won the final 3 quarters 28-20. Things got interesting when the Mustangs thought they had a late TD that would have cut the lead to 6. But after booth review, the SMU receiver was ruled to be out of bounds, turning the ball over on downs. Looking at the stat sheet, you might have guessed the scores were reversed. Despite putting up 48 points, there weren't a lot of big numbers for TCU, while senior Mustang QB ended up with 56 pass attempts, while starting RB Terrence Magee carried just 6 times. SMU out gained TCU 517 to 312 and doubled up on first downs 24 to 12. The difference was the turnover battle, which ended +3 for TCU.

    TCU
    Trevone Boykin; 15 for 25, 195 yards, 3 TDs. 10 carries, 40 yards, 1 TD.
Dwight Smith; 20 carries, 77 yards, 1 TD.

    SMU
    Stephen Kaiser; 33 for 56, 474 yards, 4 TDs, 3 INTs. 4 carries, 41 yards.
Mike Johnson; 8 catches, 102 yards
Der Rikk Thompson; 7 catches, 135 yards
Arrius Holleman; 5 catches, 127 yards, 2 TDs.

OU vs Ok St yr 4.PNG
This one was all Oklahoma from start to finish. QB Blake Bell had the game of his career as he passed for 346 yards and 5 TD while going 22-31. His receivers really stepped up in this one, as one of them was open on at least every play, and Bell was able to find them. The second team was able to get some solid playing time as they played the entire fourth quarter. HB Brad McMillan carried the ball 10 times for 78 yards and a TD.
The other big story in this one is the ongoing sub-par play of HB Brandon Williams. The Junior looked to repeat his almost 2000 yard season last year, but isn't even on pace for 1000 yards at this point. If he keeps up this kind of play, he might see the bench in favor of the Freshman McMillan. Only time will tell.
    Key Performers:
QB Blake Bell - 22-31, 346 yards, 5 TD, INT
WR Mark Poole - 4 rec, 109 yards, TD
WR Keith Harrell - 5 rec, 157 yards, 2 TD
WR Sheldon McClain - 6 rec, 23 yards, 2 TD
HB Brad McMillan - 10 carries, 78 yards, TD, 4 rec, 46 yards
ROLB Aaron Franklin - 13 tackles, 3 TFL, 2.5 SK
MLB Corey Nelson - 12 tackles, 3 TFL, SK

    Auburn - 55
    Vandy - 31

Vany put up a great fight in the first half, but it ended up being futile as 3 non-offensive touchdowns in the third quarter sealed it for the Tigers. The defense played incredible, forcing two turnovers and holding Vandy to a 35% completion rate on third downs(6/17) despite the Vandy QB breaking six tackles.

WR/KR Trovon Reed earned the game ball with two game changing punt return touchdowns of 57 and 63 yards in the third quarter.

The Tre Mason-Mike Blakely battle continued with both players averaging over 5 ypc in this game.

Miami gets the win on a last second FG as these two squads whom always play each other tough combined for an instant classsic. This was an aerial assault from both QBs and one of the more exciting games to watch this past saturday. They left it all out on the field.
