    OT - FINAL

Coach IrishBearcat was looking to improve to 3-0 against Coach MNoffke after last years overtime thriller. The first quarter was very defensive, with no teams scoring any points.

The scoring picked up in the second quarter. RB Trajuan Briggs burst up the middle for a big gain down to the 1 yard line. FB Travis Capps would punch it in for a touchdown to put Cal up 7-0 early. Cal forced an pick early on the OSU's next drive, and would capitalize on the turnover. RB Justin Goode outran the defense on the edge for a 28 yard touchdown to further the lead to 14-0. Oregon State was determined to get some positive momentum going before halftime. QB Sean Mannion found WR Obum Gwacham a slant pattern just before halftime. Cal lead at the break 14-7.

The defenses stiffened up once again in the third quarter. Trajuan Briggs found daylight again right up the gut for a 46 yard touchdown for the only score of the quarter. Golden Bears lead 21-7 heading into the fourth.

The Beavers began to up the tempo and started seeing results on offense. QB Sean Mannion tossed another touchdown pass, and added the tying score with 25 seconds left in the game to make it 21-21 all. The rivalry game would head to overtime for the second straight year!

The first play of overtime Trajuan Briggs added his second touchdown on a 25 yard score to go up 28-21. Mannion converted a big third down to get inside the 5 yard line. OSU finally punched it in, and decided to go for the two-point conversion to win the ball game. Mannion dropped back, but the pressure forced an early throw and the pass hit the ground, GAME OVER! Cal upsets a top 15 Beaver squad, and improves to 4-1.

Helluva game MNoffke, like I said your young roster will result in some lumps now but payoff big down the road. GL the rest of the way.

    Colorado 31
    Oregon 28

Colorado comes up with a big home win over Oregon. Colorado was down the entire game until the 3rd quarter. Oregon opened it up by scoring with a pass to Deanthony Thomas , who dominated the Buffaloes all day, off the hurry up offense. Colorado responded with QB Nick Hirschman avenging his early interception with an 8 yard rushing touchdown. Oregon would strike back though with DeAnthony Thomas showing that he was the best player on the field running over and past Colorado defenders for a 48 yard rushing touchdown. The Buffaloes would respond though with a passing touchdown from senior QB Brent Burnette to Paul Richardson. Burnette took over the entire 2nd quarter after Hirschman was knocked out of the game. Malcom Creer also was knocked out of this one after his second rush with a mild concussion. To start the 2nd half, the two teams traded possessions, before Oregon ran the speed option and made a bad pitch that was tipped but he CB guarding the pitch and caught in mid air by the MLB Shane DiBona who took it 25 yards for a touchdown and the Buffaloes first lead of the game. The Buffaloes would force a punt and drive down to get a field goal and a 10 point lead with just over 3 minutes remaining. Oregon however would score with just over 2 minutes left and with 3 timeouts, chose to kickoff. Colorado HB Tony Jones, who was quiet most of the day, took it 76 yards up the middle for a touchdown and a 10 point lead again. Oregon would respond though and score on a 33 yard strike and then they would recover the onside kick. Colorado's defense, who stepped up every time they needed to, would come up with one last stop and give the offense the ball to kneel out for the much needed Pac 12 win. Tony Jones ended up with 21 rushes for 160 yards and that lone touchdown. This game did show the Buffaloes that they are much slower than teams in the Pac 12 but with their hard nose defense, they will still be able to compete as they move to 5-0 on the season, 3-0 in PAC 12 play.
