Vikings Beat Winless Skins; Move to 4-2 on Season

    Vikings: 20
    Redskins: 9

The Vikings came into Washington in Week 6 looking refreshed, as they got several players back from injury including star WR Percy Harvin and valuable FB Jerome Felton. This game would prove to be a defensive battle, which seems to be the Vikings comfort zone this season. The Redskins would mythodically march down the field in their opening drive, but had to settle for a 26-yd FG by Neil Rackers after the offense stalled in the red zone. The Vikings would put together a 3 1/2 minute drive of their own, but would also settle for a 54-yd FG by Walsh after a sack by CB Cedric Griffin and a failed screen play almost pushed them out of FG range. The Redskins would take their next drive into Minnesota territory but again the (3rd-ranked) Viking defense would hold them to 3. AP would score on a 16-yard TD run on their next drive with 3:46 left in the half. The Skins would take up almost all of the 3:46, but were yet again stuffed three times inside their own 10 (twice inside the 3 yard line) and would settle for a third FG. Score at half - Skins: 9, Vikings: 10.

The second half was dominated by long, time-consuming drives by the efficient Minnesota offense and led by the running game of AP (24 carries, 136 yards). They would score on a 3rd and Goal from the 12 in the middle of the 3rd quarter on a nice corner route by rookie WR Jarius Wright (who had to step in for Percy Harvin, as he would leave this game in the 1st quarter with a broken hand.) They would tack on another FG in the 4th, and end up dominating time of possession 20:11.

    Players of the Game:

    Minnesota:
    HB Adrian Peterson - 24 carries, 136 yds, 1 TD, 1 catch, 14 yds
DT Kevin Williams - 4 Tackles, 3 Tackles for Loss, 1 Sack

    Washington:
    QB RGIII - 18 of 26, 189 yds, 2 carries, 11 yds
CB Deangelo Hall - 3 tackles, 1 INT
